NBC Universal will devote a whopping 75 hours of air time to showing Al Gores "Live Earth: The Concerts for a Climate in Crisis.
And if Gore decides to run for president in 2008, the event would be "one of the largest ever, if not the largest, in-kind contributions to a presidential campaign, according to The Media Research Centers NewsBusters.org, a Web site dedicated to combating liberal media bias.
In addition to devoting all of NBC-TVs Saturday, July 7 prime time to the concerts, CNBC will carry seven hours of coverage from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. EDT, Bravo will show the concerts around the world for 18 hours beginning at 8 a.m. EDT, and the Sundance channel and the Universal HD channel will air the concerts for 22 hours each beginning at 4 a.m.
Also, NBC Universals mun2 will run a two-hour show at 5 p.m. and Telemundo will air a one-hour special at 7 p.m. On top of all that, MSNBC will broadcast special coverage of the concert events throughout the day.
According to a press release from NBC, "this monumental music event will bring together more than 100 of todays hottest artists and two billion people to focus the worlds attention on this global climate crisis and what can be done to reduce global warming.
The concerts will take place in New York, London, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hamburg, Istanbul, Johannesburg and Rio de Janeiro. The musical acts participating include Madonna, Sheryl Crow, Kelly Clarkson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Melissa Etheridge, Bon Jovi, Kanye West, John Mayer, Black Eyed Peas and Duran Duran.
The press release concludes: "Live Earth marks the beginning of a multi-year campaign led by The Alliance for Climate Protection and its Chair, former Vice President Al Gore, to move individuals, corporations and governments to take action.
Someone call Dennis Kucinch - I think the Fairness Doctrine would apply here. :D
You are probably right. I thought they would just be performing their hit songs and not speaking. If they are going to be allowed to speak, that will be quite a disaster. Usually when liberal minded celebrities open their mouths regarding politics and world issues, a load of crap comes out.
I can safely predict that I won’t accidently watch it because I never tune my set to NBC, and definately not to MSNBC.
Only if people can tolerate the stench and flies that must be her constant companions...assuming she practices what she preaches.
It will be hilary thats fuming if he announces he is running and use that time to promote it. The others will be demanding equal time!
Hmmm... a target rich environment...
I just want to thank Mralgore for inventing the TV Remote.
But wait...Won’t Paris Hilton be getting out of jail around that time?
I have a feeling our TVs will be OFF that day. Thanks, but no thanks, NBC and friends.
Hey, lets give the Global Warming/climate change/greenies to the MythBusters. If they don’t get it right we’ll lay on their necks until they do the right tests with the true results.
Bon Jovi still rocks, even if he is all chummy with Gore and the dim-o-rats. The Bon Jovi 2005 Crossroads episode on CMT with SUGARLAND was the best hour of music television I’ve ever witnessed.
The Live Earth lineup is pretty impressive. Kelly Clarkson has done so well the last few years, sometimes I forget she was on that stupid Idol show. The Black Eyed Peas are about the best thing going in hip-hop, and Katie Melua’s smooth voice out of England is one I could listen to hour after hour. Plus, I think Shakira will be shaking her hips and singin’ up a storm somewhere.
Here’s hoping the NBC networks let people enjoy the music with unedited coverage from the stages. As for politics, here’s hoping the NBC networks allow their viewers to MAKE UP THEIR OWN MINDS on climate change.
NBC is still on the air?
A new electorate is emerging that has been conditioned by the PC of the godless state education. They are open and ready for the coming of the new religion. The Global Warming fraud will be the new catechism. It will be a Trojan Horse that will provide cover for the commie left agenda. It is being sold to the pop culture like tattoos and piercings. Its Hucksters will make money off things like CD albums, movies, t-shirts and ball caps.
While couples are getting married on 7-7-'07, Al Gore will have a different religious celebration: seven rock concerts on seven continents. It will usher forth the Religion of Eco God, under the sign of Cancer. This is the god of the new age to save the planet from the obsolete world view of Christianity. These ecoweenies will call on their Eco God to cast a magical and demonic spell on the Christians, who they will warn their faithful, hold the earth hostage to a destiny of death. Al Gore will emerge as the prophet of the new age. He and his atheist followers will call on the world to put a religious Jihad on those Christian relics of the past and help deliver the earth from their menace forever.
Instead of the old sign of the beast--666--the new beast will have a new sign: 777.
For what reason would anyone want to contact NBC? For my money, NBC can give Gore and every other looney tunes moonbat free airtime 24/7 for the next year. Not watching NBC has become an ingrained habit around here, and there’s not one minute of their programming I’d miss.
As it is, the only thing they’d have to preempt would be some totally inane, mindless, claptrap of a reality show. Who’d miss that? BFD.
With apologies to Warner Bros. and Bugs, Porky, and the gang, “tunes” should be “toons”.
LOL, this will put NBC’s ratings below The CW’s. ;-)
Today’s new political offensive. Don’t bother arguing it, just celebrate it.
For a more entertaining programming choice I recommend:
I hear you. I watched two minutes of "The Real Che Guevara" on the HC the other day. It was a hagiography.
The face and voice of NBC is now Kieth Ubermoron.Vapid, shameless leftism is now their brand.
