Lean cuisines should be the only legal food. And then only if you eat half.

And lots of celery.

True.

Mostly people don’t go to Denny’s.

They end up at Denny’s...

That one must have sleeping drugs in it. I can barely stay awake long enough to get home after I eat one.

I feel energized.

I’m not sure what a burger would do to my digestive system at this point.

Only one way to find out...

About twice my normal intake of food calories

Just out of curiosity, what other kinds of calories do you intake?

Those pictures are almost enough to make me throw up (after too many late nights at Denny's during college, I know more than I want to know about their food).

If you want a big burger, you might as well pay a couple bucks extra for some quality:

The location where I moved 14 years ago had the worst Denny's I have ever visited, and I have been in quite a few. I recall going in for lunch one day, and it looked like a food tray had been dumped on the carpet. OK, I thought, accidents happen. I walked around the mess. When I left after about 45 minutes, the food was still on the carpet, but now there were shoeprints through the middle of it. Dirty work areas, dirty floors, bad service. Their motto seemed to be "We're open, we're cheap, and if we ever get around to serving you, our food might not put you in the hospital."

This Denny's repeatedly failed its corporate inspections, and the franchise was revoked about five years ago.

Don't forget the cannoli...

Who could forget cannoli?

"Leave the gun. Take the cannoli."

That mafioso had his priorities straight!

I miss the old fried apple pies at Micky Dees. I LOVED them, and I think that I still have the scars in my mouth to prove it!

I'm pretty sure that the reason they abandoned the deep fried apple pies in the US was for liability reasons: I know that even though the packaging stated that the insides were hot, the deep fryer would heat the insides of those pies to "lava, boiling hot!" temperatures, and the fried crust made a terrific insulator. A half hour after sitting down you could still burn the heck out of the roof of your mouth.

All I have to do is find one very big yet crappy burger and your BS is trumped...

A big burger can be great but I have had some ‘monster burgers’ that are cap no matter what size you make them..

I frequent the Denny's that cost them a bazillion dollars in a discrimination suit years ago.

They really got their act together as a result.

I was having dinner with Ratboy there a year or so ago and the topic came up. I was using that store as an example of how real change in attitude is possible.

He asked a question about some detail or another and I didn't have an answer.

I asked the waitress if she knew the answer? No. Nor did she know about the suit just a few years prior, she started asking around, same for another waitress, the cashier, the bus boy, and the assistant manager.

Pretty soon the manager came by to talk. He knew about the suit, but had to think about it for a bit to recall that particular detail.

It wasn't exactly corporate amnesia, it was more like they made a mistake, they got called out on the mistake, they ultimately recognized that they were in the wrong, made amends, and changed their behavior.

Did they dwell on the lawsuit? No. Did they carry a grudge and seethe? No.

They picked themselves up, dusted themselves off, learned their lesson at a deep fundamental level, and moved on.

Perfect.

Oh, and the manager? He happened to be Hispanic. He wasn't the manager because he was Hispanic, he was the manger because he was good.

How do I know he's good? The restaurant is spotless, the staff is happy, the business is booming, and everyone who walks in the front door feels welcome...

Well, Good Friday is 3/21, which makes Ressurection Sunday the 23rd. So, I guess you’re looking at 2/12 being Fat Tuesday and the 13th being Ash Wednesday. Which means Mardi Gras is going on... now, maybe?

You may want to check some one else on that—I am not an expert (or even a casual observer) of Roman Catholic holy days or observances. Or on drunken bacchanals held on public streets.

Just speaking personally—Passover, Good Friday, and Ressurection Sunday I pay close attention to.

Are they two different groups? Of the people I am around it looks like the heavy ones are the smokers, too. The thin ones don’t smoke so much. Just what I see.

"o, I guess you’re looking at 2/12 being Fat Tuesday and the 13th being Ash Wednesday."

I've always thought that we should combine Fat Tuesday and Ash Wednesday into a one-day holiday nearer the end of the week, so as to have a three-day weekend to enjoy.
We could call it Fat-Ash Friday.
