Tony Snow is about to appear live on FOX & Friends on FOX News. The subject is Bush's push for immigration "reform".
It's amnesty because people who entered this country by violating the law will get what they came here for - citizenship - without facing the established penalties for illegal entry.
Moreover, the services to which they are entitled as citizens, most notably Social Security, they'll receive without having paid in. That means I'm supporting their retirements, too.
I admire the heck out of Tony Snow, but this bill was just awful from the getgo, deserves to die, and I feel badly for him having to put earrings on a hog in public. I don't get upset about a lot of things but this bill really has me spitting mad.
I've been nice about it, and civil about it, but my meaning to my elected officials has been plain: no amnesty.

Just id them and they do not get citizenship. If they don't like it, they can leave.

You’re right, in part. It’s also “amnesty” because they’ll reap far more reward from their crime than any penalty now being considered.
Imagine someone breaking into your home and stealing $1.1 million dollars in cash, then getting caught as they flee. Then, he gets tried in court and the federal judge says “yes, he’s guilty, so I’m going to fine him $5,000 in cash,” but, he gets to keep the money he stole.
This is basically the same “punishment” as the federal government is proposing to deal with illegal aliens. Each illegal will gain $1.1 million in government services through the average lifetime, and their cost in securing that bucket of taxpayer money is a whopping $5,000.
What a freaking joke!

And to mix it all in with the other “goings on in the world” is downright not cool. I posted on another thread that strategically I would have recommended the very same timing...of course that would be if I wanted to assist in shredding the Constitution and our Rights as American’s and Patriots!
Toll on worker/taxpayers. They are pushed out of the job market (not just lettuce, folks). Second insult is taxes will have to go up to support millions of newbies. It’s not like a baby boom. It’s newbie adults who will want it all. Congress is handing the country to strangers and we are supposed to defer cuz we’re bigots? Folly! Hopefully, the House stops it.
My point is that nothing is tamper proof.
Now, I'd like a tamper proof president and congress.

You assume it passes the Senate. It hasn’t so far and McConnell said he’s pretty sure all minds are made up. Let me just assure you senators are being hammered so hard from the public on this that nothing is getting done in their offices. All staff can do is answer phone calls.

I remember a feller posting some months back that Tony should decide not to come back after Surgury if “he knows what coming down the pipe”. The dems are going to go for gold either way...surely some of the Senators & Congressman aren’t buying into the back-scratch game considering what’s on the table.
