I am saying to fight vigorously, but do so honorably. I’ve said that I didn’t like this bill, but note that you had your say before and lo, this bill is worse than the one before.

It’s a problem, especially for retirement plans. The benefits people want to do something about it but their hands are tied.
It’s ludicrous- year 1 he’s John Smith, year 2 he’s someone else and there’s nothing that they can do.
Chris Matthews interviewed Tony Snow tonight. THERE WILL BE NATIONAL ID CARDS but the Senate bill says there won’t. The id cards aren’t just for illegals. Very perplexing. And, everyone who applies for work will be fingerprinted as well.

Back on May 21 when Hewitt wrote this, the terms of the Z visa weren't so clear. Today we know that virtually all of the illegal aliens now in America will be legal the very moment George Bush signs his Amnesty bill.
Hence there will be no "illegal aliens" and employers will no longer need to worry about enforcement, fines, penalties, ICE raids, RICO lawsuits, or jail.
As Hewitt points out:
"I would have expected the Chamber of Commerce and others to strenuously resist transfer of the costs of immigration enforcement from the federal government to the private sector. There are some significant penalties here that ordinary businesses will simply be stunned to discover especially in the paperwork department."
"The willingness to go along suggests that there’s a loophole the size of a black hole hidden within the text, and again we are taken to the loophole of “probationary Z visas,” discussed in my first post on the bill’s fine print."

Does msnbc replay Hardball? National id cards but the states will create them so they aren’t really national, federal id cards but the states are gonna make them. They will be federal, not national. Tony Snow’s wasn’t making any sense tonight. And, he said “fingerprints” for all with gusto.
What, the guest worker provisions aren’t for temporary workers?
That’s what I had understood.
Let me make a revolutionary and innovative suggestion:
Enforce the existing laws.
I used to transcribe recorded statements. See my update above. Tony Snow is quite confused about the tamper proof ID card except that everybody will have a card except if you don’t have one w/you, you can apply for work with a passport AND YOUR FINGERPRINTS.
It is not realistic what you propose. It’s just not. If you are not willing to cut benefits that may be available, they won’t stay out if you even are able to find and process all of them and manage to find conservative judges who won’t let them off.
There aren’t enough resources.
Turn off the tap and let’s look at a much smaller and more restricted welfare program.
If you stopped welfare and other benefits, they would not come and more would leave. A fence wouldn’t be necessary.

Don’t tell me he’s pimping the Rudy ID card addition as part of their revival attempt. This could get real ugly!
