11 GOP Senators write Bush
MSNBC ^ | June 12, 2007 | Mark Murray

While President Bush is expected to rally GOP Senate support today for a comprehensive immigration reform bill, several Republican senators are pushing Bush to address border security first -- regardless of the bill's fate. In two different letters sent to Bush by two different sets of senators, they strongly suggest their constituents don't trust the Administration's immigration policy.

Georgia Sens. Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss are asking the president to send Congress an emergency supplemental spending bill to fund border security. They write that "the message from a majority of Georgians is that they have no trust that the United States Government will enforce the laws contained in this new legislation and secure the border first." They say the Administration's "lack of credibility" gives merit to skeptics.

Another letter signed by nine GOP senators, including some vocal opponents of the comprehensive plan, calls on Bush to enforce existing border security laws "regardless of whether the Senate passes the immigration reform bill." Describing border security as "vital," the group says it's "the best way to restore trust with the American people and facilitate future improvements of our immigration policy."

It FINALLY seems to be sinking in, particularly with regards to the two Georgia senators.

No it isn't. Chambliss and Isakson want "emergency funding" for the bill currently in the Senate, before passage by the Senate, let alone the House. It's an attempt at end-running the process.

Question is...will enough Dems back it?

If not, nothing happens whatsoever.

It was the first demand they made on him, and it is weak:

“We believe that you and your administration could alleviate many of the fears of our constituents by calling for an emergency supplemental bill to fully fund the border and interior security initiatives contained in legislation currently pending in the Senate, as well as any outstanding existing authorizations.”

I see what you mean. It’s the word “pending”, as if the bill is inevitable.

Is that how they plan to get around the Budget Act violations in the Senate bill? Last week they voted to waive the budget act so they could vote for cloture.

Chambliss and Isakson are asking for an emergency measure to fund this monstrosity. Not any other, but this one, currently in the Senate. It hasn't even been voted upon yet, and hasn't gone to the House. These two do not deserve applause, they're playing hide the salami with the voters in their districts, and the country at large.

No doubt you're right. These two are snakes.

“Any outstanding”. IMO, I don’t think either will ever be trusted by the voters there again, the break has been clean.

“..asking the president to send Congress an emergency supplemental spending bill to fund border security.”

Never mind the bill for border security. Kill the comprehensive immigration reform bill first and then let’s talk about border security, fence, etc.

More from the Article, the GOOD guys. (We should still be under 300 words!)

Another letter signed by nine GOP senators calls on Bush to enforce existing border security laws "regardless of whether the Senate passes the immigration reform bill." Describing border security as "vital,"

......signed by Sens. DeMint, Coburn, Enzi, Vitter, Inhofe, Bunning, Grassley, Ensign, and Sessions. Combined with the letter from Isakson and Chambliss, the "border security-first" opinion of represents more than 20% of the Senate GOP caucus."

>The democRATS>

The Democrat In Name Only craps are not working in the best interests of the country. They are working to insure their immortality in government. Why do we flatter them by calling them Democrats and RINOs when they are Socialists, the elite, the oligarchy? Bush is obviously pushing us closer to the New World Order by ignoring our borders, signing the NAU treaty, and by ordering our death blow by demanding that this immigration bill be passed. Our government is a turning deaf ear to us. What are we doing about it? KEEP CALLING! KEEP EMAILING! They will try to wear us out. But they cannot because we are Americans!

"their constituents don't trust the Administration's immigration policy."

Or ANY OTHER POLICY after what we've seen here!

"Georgia Sens. Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss are asking the president to send Congress an emergency supplemental spending bill to fund border security."

That will no longer do it, fellas!

We want to SEE the fence!
We want to SEE an enforced Border!
We want to SEE our Border Patrol Agents--OUT OF JAIL!--and doing their jobs!

You think the American people are going to trust Bush and the Senate after this?!!!???

Trying to foist this 108-page "bill" on America--a "bill" that nobody seems to know what's in, including YOU--a "bill" prepared in secret--a "bill" crafted by Teddy Kennedy, a man whom nobody should trust--a "bill" that will change the U.S.A. forever!

If this is not the ultimate irresponsibility, it's worse: It's the ultimate treachery!
