New NBC Poll: Congress Gets Lower Rating Than Bush
Newsmax.com ^ | June 14, 2007 | NewsMax

Democrats promised to be the most reform-minded Congress in history. They promised to bring a new standard of ethics to Washington.

A new NBC/Wall Street Journal finds Americans aren't feeling the hype — and they are giving the new Democratic-controlled Congress its lowest approval rating yet.

Worse, the congressional approval rating is even less than President Bush's sagging number.

According to the poll, just 23 percent of Americans approve of the job Congress is doing.

Bush beats the congressional number by 6 points, pulling in a 29 percent approval rating.

The Democratically-controlled House and Senate have made blocking President Bush's war on terror, especially his Iraq program, their No. 1 priority.

Apparently, Americans like the Democrats' approach even less the president's.

Clearly, the country is in an angry, unsettled mood. Only 19 percent of Americans believe the country is "headed in the right direction," while 68 percent say the country is on the "wrong" track.

Well at least these polls are believable. The Washington government is in the toilet, and someone should flush it....

Republicans that ousted republicans for their poor performance and give an opportunity for America to see how corrupt the democrats are and how poorly they can lead. These are good signed.

Republicans now need to get real conservatives into primaries and get rid of the incumbent republicans and put some fresh blood into the peoples houses.

Our new "Congress-Person" here is Tucson is already putting on commercials, patting herself on the back for the wonderful job she's done in her first 5 months.

The commercial infers that in her first week in Washington, she led the effort to raise the Federal Minimum Wage.

The “in your face” arrogant elitists in DC apparently haven’t been told that they’re poll numbers are in the toilet waiting to be flushed. Well, the American people will be doing the flushing. The new mantra “clean out the US Congress”. Time to vote them all out.

We need more political parties to choose from or no parties at all. No one seems happy with what the current two party oligarchy does.

It is becoming increasingly more apparent that our entire government has completely lost touch with their singular purpose, to serve the American people. They no longer speak for their constituents, they speak for themselves and their agendas. Quest for power, at all costs, is now primary. Forget the people that put these morons there in the first place. And this goes from the very top down. We are a now a byproduct of our government, rather than the reason for it’s very existence.

You’d better believe it!

Neither are polling very well.

I sure would like to see a hundred new faces in congress this year.

I think the numbers are way to high. 12% each would be more like it.

NBC won’t report it, the NYT will put this on page Z-72, and MSNBC will fake the numbers using the six people that watch Olbermann.

CNN? They’ll run the teleprompter backwards again just to watch that moron Cafferty’s head explode live on air....

Gifford has got to go.

I've heard mention of Tim Bee as the potential Republican candidate in 2008. Do you know anything about him?

I tend to agree, those we asked to serve, believe they are our leaders. Americans do not elect leaders, they elect their representatives.

It is the result of the 60’s movement and 40 years of democrat rule where they went from servers to leaders.

Our leaders are truly our fathers, neighbors in the community active in community programs and our people and children can inter-relate with.

From the city council to “serve” parts of the community on public issues to the white house.

The most powerful man in the world is not the President, he is simply the CEO of our corporate offices at the federal level.

The most powerful man in the world, is a good father.

CARNAC: “Dead skunks, telephone solicitors, and the U.S. Congress.”

(opens envelope.)

“Name three things less popular then President Bush.”

(Concept of joke not original to me. Might have read something like it on FR earlier.)

“23 percent of Americans approve of the job Congress is doing”

Once the immigration bill passes, the 23% is going to look pretty good.
