Dear Massachusetts Taxpayer (Vanity)
unknown | Commonwealth of Massachusetts

Posted on 06/15/2007 7:09:59 PM PDT by cotton1706

Dear Massachusetts Taxpayer, Beginning July 1, 2007, a new Massachusetts law says that residents age 18 and over must have health insurance. With few exceptions, adults must be able to show that they have health insurance by Dec. 31, 2007. Those who cannot will lose the tax benefit of their personal exemption on their 2007 Massachusetts income tax return, worth $219 for an individual. Penalties will increase for 2008.

Such is the arrogant postcard I received today from the government of my state. The price of Liberty here is now $219. This from the same place in the world that once would not abide a mere three cents per pound tax on tea.

I hear ya cotton!! I agree too. But we will hear over and over from the Romney care people, “it’s not socialized medicine!” Maybe it isn’t but it sure should be unconstitutional. Way to go in getting High school and college grads to stay in the state. They won’t be able to have a car, auto ins, AND get medical insurance. They will have to choose between, unless they happen to get a job that provides benefits. Most are perfectly healthy and able to pay for visits as they occur. And the ins. that they can buy won’t cover much. It basically is just to say they have it.

Businesses also, who employ more than 10 people will be fined if they do not provide benefits. We aren’t losing enough businesses as it is, apparently. And the exodus is not extreme enough.

So, let me see if I get this right: We’re supposed to rally around Mitt Romney, who was governor of a state that requires it’s citizens to have health insurance and that is the only state that has legalized homosexuals becoming ‘married.’

And don’t think that $219 won’t be put to good use.

After all, the legislators who switched their votes and pulled the rug out from Mass voters yesterday by denying them a popular referendum on same sex marriage are surely expecting hefty rewards from Gov Coupe deVal.

Together we can!

Welcome to the new Twilight Zone where everything is upside down. Meanwhile, during this insanity, our enemies are arming and waiting to get US Social Security cards and a big welcome to America thanks to Liberals, RINO’s and G. Bush.

But Mitt is a conservative.

If anyone believes that, I've got this real nice bridge in Brooklyn I know they'll be interested in....

$219 AND YOU'RE WHINING?

Jeez, I guess the $700 plus I'm paying for mine is supplementing your meager $200 payment. Say "Thank You".

I've been supplementing you and how many others this way?

Not to mention supporting emergency room treatment for illegal aliens. I've got 1st person experience in this, showing up with a dislocated shoulder hanging out of the socket and waiting HOURS for some ahole to put it back in while a junkie nurse stole my meds. AND I had to take a taxi ride to the emergency room.

I've been paying like that for a decade, it's been going up over $100/mo every year.

Welcome to the Socialist Republic of Taxachusetts. Welcome to the private sector.

Oh, and Buh, Bye! I'm outta here. Suckas.

Pay your own way without me and all the other workers fleeing this state. You deserve it, you've been voting these commie, criminal, legislative sleazebags into office for generations.

I do not have medical insurance now, and haven't had for personal reasons, for about 20 years. That is my choice, and it seems to me that any law which seeks to "fine" a resident of any state for not making a personal spending decision in their budget, is an UNCONSTITUTIONAL law. I trust this Massachusetts "health insurance" nanny law will be tested in court with dispatch.

The Court is run, lock-stock and barrel, by the
New York Times. It will not be tested.
It will be affirmed with more rights taken.
-— and of course, without vote.

Perhaps you misunderstand me. I’m not paying the $219. My Liberty is not for sale at any price. They can keep their worthless tax deduction. I don’t need alms from the government. And you haven’t paid a dime for my healthcare since I pay for it myself from money I’ve earned, with no third party involved. Just as I buy a loaf of bread or anything else.

I'm curious Congressman, without health insurance, what would you do in the event of a catastrophic accident or illness?

Are you independently wealthy?

“what would you do in the event of a catastrophic accident or illness?”

Why is it that you can buy a 30-40k car over time but not pay a hospital bill in the same manner.
