Bush Urges Hispanics To Speak Up (New Info and Quotes)
The Washington Times ^ | June 16, 2007 | Steven Dinan

President Bush yesterday told Hispanics to step into the middle of the immigration debate and make sure senators who have been bombarded with calls from opponents also hear from those who support the bill.

"There's a lot of emotion on this issue, and it makes sense to have people from around the country come and sit down with members of Congress to talk rationally about the issue," he told those attending the Hispanic Prayer Breakfast in Washington yesterday.

He was speaking a day after the bill, which collapsed last week, was revived by the top Democrat and Republican in the Senate.

Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, agreed to put the bill back on the Senate's schedule next week, and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Kentucky Republican, agreed to limit the number of amendments Republicans would offer.

But roadblocks are already popping up.
Sen. Jim DeMint, South Carolina Republican, said he will block any attempt to send the bill to an eventual House-Senate conference, complicating the usual path a bill takes to reach the president's desk.

"Ted Kennedy has sold us another bill of goods and I don't trust him to make even more changes...

I do understand how you feel backhoe.

The only person that is running now that I would vote for at this time is Duncan Hunter.

Jim Inhofe would get my nomination for the best Senator we have. He is also fighting against the Energy Bill as well as the Immigration Bill.

Sheesh. This stuff is bordering on sedition if you ask me.

It is all the worse because he came from OUR RANKS and we put him in office!

I have no further use for George W. Bush, if you ask me personally.

"We thank God for sending us such brave and selfless people." -- illegal aliens.

What filth. Who could buy all the God talk? This is about what the big companies want -- to bring down American wages.

Be careful, Mr. President.

Remember Ananias and Saphira?

While I'm a Thompson supporter, I will say this- Duncan Hunter is a fine man, and I hope what I formerly considered "our side" wins the White House.

I can't bear the idea of four or eight years of bobble-headed Democrats lecturing and nagging us every day on TV like they did during the Clinton Darkness...

Thanks again for the ping F15Eagle... I appreciate it. I’ve been busy this week taking care of my hubby (he had back surgery a week ago) so I haven’t been able to be online much. That’s probably a good thing because I see Bush is still trying to convince everyone that this is still a good idea.

Kinda of funny if you ask me that the President is requesting for people who support this bill to contact their reps... You’d think if they did they would’ve done so already just as those of us who are against this bill have. I’m flabbergasted by Bush’s actions and words on this issue. I have just a few questions about all of this now, and it all has to do with WHY is Bush pushing this so hard when it is destroying the GOP and threatening to ruin our country?!?!?

Here are the questions I have now:
1. What did Bush and Fox agree to in the talks about the NAU, and why is the NAU deal being kept so quiet — WHERE IS THE MEDIA ON THIS?
2. Who in the senate is getting/going to get kickbacks from the businesses who hire/want to hire these illegal aliens or guest workers?
3. How much election fraud has been perpetrated over the last 20 or so years by illegal aliens voting as we saw uncovered in one small part of Texas last year (I’m thinking California Democrats — like that one, can’t remember her name, who messed up and said you (illegal aliens) don’t need ID to vote???). I’m wondering if this is how such horrible candidates keep getting elected from the Dems — like Pelosi... I think we need to start demanding this is looked into further. I don’t care where the chips fall if it was either party that has benefitted. It needs to be investigated and the people who have perpetrated this fraud need to be thrown in jail, and those who are NOT citizens need to be deported and never let back in. I mean isn’t it kind of like an act of war against a country to interfere with the political process like voting when you don’t have the right to vote? It’s disastrous as foreign interests could change the outcome of an election to favor their side (like this last election in regards to the Iraq war)...
and finally,
4. Who has what on Bush that would make him turn his back on not only his party, but his country in this way, because that’s the only thing I can think of that honestly makes sense at this point. Being governor of Texas he HAS to know the problems caused by illegal immigration, and there is no way that he could rationally think that amnesty will help this situation or be good for our country. Is someone pushing him to do this, and if so, WHO and WHY???

Very serious questions in what I see is a very dangerous time for our country. We have gone so far away from the founding principles of our Constitutional Republic it’s quite scary. I always wondered why Bush kept pushing the word Democracy when speaking throughout the world saying it’s what America is all about — that’s not true and as a politician he knows that. Democracy is NOT a good system for a country as then the majority can oppress the minorities very easily. Now Bush is talking about a “Majority” of Americans that supposedly support this bill — not only is it a lie, but it shouldn’t matter two wits if the MAJORITY of people thought it a good idea. Even if I was the only one in this whole country who saw the danger to our society, and to our Republic caused by the actions of these senators in pushing for something so disastrous for our country — it would STILL be wrong for them to do it...

Something very wrong is happening here I feel... And, it doesn’t make me too optimistic that my children are going to be able to grow up and raise their families in this great nation. I’m hurt, I’m angry, and I’m bewildered by all of this... What in the H*LL is happening to our country???

I wonder who pays for the freebies? Surly it’s not going to be the Mexican government, now is it?

To go to a crowd of illegals and tell them to lobby for AMNESTY is despicable of the worst kind. For a US President to do this is well, you are just going to have to use your imagination.

Bush is making Clinton look like an honest man. Is Bush still sane, with behavior like this, one has to ask if he is fit for office.

Take the Pledge: "I pledge to never, ever vote for anyone, for any office, who votes in favor of the Mexican Invasion Surrender Bill."

I am thinking about taking it one step further. Never, ever vote for an incumbent again. The beltway needs and enema.

Asking illegals to support legislation is disenfranchising citizens. Wonder where the Supreme Court would fall on that issue vis a vis equal protection if someone sued the President?
