Warnings from Gaza (Newt Gingrich: World War IV)
The Washington Times ^ | Jun 26, 2007 | Newt Gingrich

Posted on 06/27/2007 12:42:08 PM PDT by neverdem

The Hamas victory in Gaza is a warning that World War IV (as Norman Podhoretz has called it) is going to be long and hard. It is also a warning that the West is currently losing that war.

These defeats are not a function of the courage and will of the American people. In a June poll sponsored by American Solutions, 85 percent of the American people said it was important to defend America and its allies. Only 10 percent were opposed. On an even stronger question, 75 percent said it was important to defeat America's enemies. Only 16 percent disagreed.

So the hard left in America is only 16 percent. It is outnumbered almost 5-1 by those who would defeat our enemies.

The source of failure is not to be found in the American people but in the inarticulate and unimaginative leaders all across government who now preside instead of lead.

The tragedy of the current debate in Washington is that while the inarticulateness and the failing performance of the Bush administration have led the American people to desire a new direction, the politics of the left insists that the new direction be less than President Bush. Yet the lessons of Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, New Jersey, the JFK plot, the Algerian bombings, the Iranian nuclear program, the conflict in Lebanon and now the defeat in Gaza all point to the need for a war policy that is substantially bigger and more robust than Mr. Bush.

--snip--

Lastly, mosques can no longer be allowed to preach hatred and violence. The de-Nazification that seemed obvious in Germany in 1945 will have to be matched by a dehatred campaign today. The haters have to be defeated, disarmed and detained if the forces of peace and freedom are to win.

I am becoming more and more distrustful of politicians who cite polls to back up their points.

Newt Gingrich should know by now that Americans' opinions and poll numbers change with the wind.

A true leader leads. He doesn't cite polls to prove his points.

And what candidate has stood up and told the American people I am running to be a Wartime President.

I fully expect a nuclear war in the Middle East in the next five years between Israel and likely Iran and Syria with spillover into Europe and the US by terrorists trying attack those they see as supporting Israel in the conflict.

“In a June poll sponsored by American Solutions, 85 percent of the American people said it was important to defend America and its allies. Only 10 percent were opposed.”

So one in 10 people in the US wants America defeated, and Newt thinks this is good? Think about that. One in 10 of us want Iran, North Korea, Cuba, and Hugo Chavez to defeat and enslave us. They would rather our children live under a socialist or Islamic dictatorship than be free. I find it almost inconcievable, yet if you look around, open your eyes, it is undeniably the truth.

Can you classify these people as anything other than traitors, spy's, and terrorists? How can we hope to win when fully a tenth of our population is actively working towards our destruction from the inside. They spread propaganda, undermine our security, and flaunt their hatred for our culture and society, to our faces.

If we had such a large group of traitors during WWII do you think it possible that we could have still won? The few Nazi sympathizers we had then supported the Nazi’s from the shadows because we would have strung them up if they had behaved as brazenly as our traitors do now.

Is it really so unreasonable to deport our traitors to the countries they find so appealing? If they hate us and our way of life so much, we would do them a favor by sending them away.

No, but we have decided to accept their BS since the late 1960s. How do you get rid of folks who maintain that white males are respnsible for all the evil in the world when so many white males agree with them?

Who's Newt to talk?! His
"Contract On With America"
didn't exactly

"win the hearts and minds"
of the US at large and
served as a focus

of the 'Rats' attacks
more than as a positive.
Newt should go away.

"(as Norman Podhoretz has called it)"

Is there any numbering scheme for those who fought and died during the Cold War? Between Korea and Vietnam, just the U.S. had almost 100,000 KIA, not to mention everywhere else.

He is counciling a more robust . That is a policy change from Bush who has been (damn, how I hate to say it) feckless in the war in Iraq and in reacting to Iran's provocations.

It looks like whining only to those that don't comprehend what Newt's saying.

...interesting.

"By a margin of nearly five to one, Americans oppose the Bush administration's demand to halt all further Jewish construction in Judea-Samaria (the West Bank) and Gaza . . .
