British police have a "crystal clear" picture of the man who drove the bomb-rigged silver Mercedes outside a London nightclub, and officials tell the Blotter on ABCNews.com he bears "a close resemblance" to a man arrested by police in connection with another bomb plot but released for lack of evidence. Officials say the suspect had been taken into custody in connection with the case of al Qaeda operative Dhiren Barot (pictured), who was convicted of orchestrating a vehicle bomb plot involving targets in London, New York, Newark, N.J. and Washington, D.C.

Officials say a surveillance camera caught the suspect "staggering from the Mercedes" shortly after parking it outside the Tiger Tiger nightclub.

U.S. and British law enforcement officials tell ABC News it is increasingly clear Friday's bomb plot in London involves multliple vehicles, and is described by a senior official as a "terror plot involving lslamic extremists."

I heard that, too. And wasn't it Geraldo who said it probably wasn't al Qaeda because they used a Mercedes instead of the piece-of-junk-type cars they drive in Iraq. Let's see they also said it was probably just the IRA or an angry boyfriend because it was Ladies Night.

Curious to see what the networks were doing since Fox covered the story for three hours straight, I flipped over to find Matt Lauer in a museum discussing Princess Diana's evening gowns.

I just heard on CNN a few minutes ago, that it “probably wasn’t al Qaeda, but homegrown”. Their brilliant reasoning backing up this claim, is that if it was al Qaeda, the bombs wouldn’t have malfunctioned. Unbelievable idiocy.

Officials say the cell phones failed to initiate the explosions, even after each phone had been called twice.

Wonder what the exact timeline was.

Another article said a British cop saw that the first vehicle was wired. He got inside and disconnected the detonator. [I hope that wasn't between calls. Either way, he had an angel on his shoulder.]

Even the local NY news channels were reporting the story...but we musn't upset the Hillary crowd at the Today Show. Reminds me of another breaking news day when all the networks were covering the story and they had the Perky One outside playing badminton.

It was the remnants of the Al Qaeda Luton Cell that got away or were released for lack of evidence after the NY Times leaked the news in 2004 about the capture of Muhammad Naeem Noor Khan and his laptop computer.

It was the Luton Cell and they are Al Qaeda, not home-grown. And the ones that got away are the darlings of the NY Times.
