he’s talented, but very warped.
Your review of Prince reminds me of reviews that most in the establishment media gave to The Beatles back in the 1960s.
He must be a very talented artist because everyone says so, and everyone’s always right.
Close but not quite.
He must be a very talented artist because lots of people with good taste say so, and when that’s the case there’s usually something there.
Bought the Mail on Sunday today and the album is BRILLIANT.
What I really love is that Prince released his album through the UK’s most conservative paper.
All day at my local paper shop, you could see the local lefties agonising over whether they were “allowed” to buy it!
No funnier sight than a Guardian reader with his knickers in a twist!
I would buy the NY Times if Prince gave away a copy of his album...of course I would throw the rest fo the paper away without reading it.
I got a free copy of Musicology at his concert.
He’s probably the most talented American musician of his generation.
"We dont like their sound, and guitar music is on the way out" Decca executive, rejecting the Beatles, 1962
I like ‘80s Prince but I lost interest during the “artist formerly known as” period. I have to admit I haven’t listened to any of his newer stuff.
LOL
That prancing purple nightmare can take his talent and shove it where he very likely enjoys it the most.
And he actually does something live that most musicians don't do anymore...entertain.
You seem to be fixated on his sexual proclivities. I don’t know why. I’m reffering only to his musical talent...which is gargantuan. Playing about a dozen instrument extremely well...composing hundreds of songs for himself and others.
Some might call it music I suppose.
If you enjoy listening to high pitched screetching and perverted X-rated lyrics who am I to judge?
Singing in a male falsetto has been a mainstay of soul music since Marvin Gaye and earlier (who also wrote some X rate lyrics). There’s nothing unmusical about a songs like ‘1999’ or ‘Manic Monday’ which even grandmothers can sing along with.
Personally, I preferred his performance in “Under the Cherry Moon.”
Ah, “Darling Nicky”, “Let’s Go Crazy”, and “Pop Life” could make up for a million “Delirious” rehashes. A very talented songwriter and a hell of a guitar player too.
BTW: Did you know that overcast days really turn him on? ;-)
I can’t even say I like or dislike Prince since I never listen to him and couldn’t even recognize one of his songs. I’m sure he’s as talented as everyone says - you just couldn’t prove it by me.
