MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Jim Webb, D-Va.; Republican strategist Mike Murphy and Democratic strategist Bob Shrum.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., and Mark Kimmitt, deputy assistant secretary of defense for the Middle East.
THIS WEEK (ABC): National security adviser Stephen Hadley; Sens. John Warner, R-Va., and Richard Lugar, R-Ind.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Sens. Joe Biden, D-Del., Trent Lott, R-Miss., and Jack Reed, D-R.I.; Hadley; and Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari.
Man talk about a B-team lineup today.
They just don't get it, this thing called capitalism. It's about choice, supply and demand, etc.Socialists always want it their way.
Media want to project President Bush as a lame duck & the Levin, Lugar, Warners as the power houses.
President Bush will veto any and all measures put forth by Congressional Dems to halt the Iraq War, according to a little-noticed letter from the White House just this week,
to Carl Levin, democrat chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Wallace can talk all he want to Levin, treating him like a de-facto war-general. In Reality, all these talks are moot.
NYTimes and Washington Compost can spin anyway they want - MSM (including Fox) gladly would shout them, only to their own peril. While they they have their "anonymous sources", a dozen Conservative Journalists heard the Real Strategery from the Horse's Mouth.
It's the kind of stuff that seldom makes the msm/dbm L/W mantra. So we will have to bring it up here.
Great job anita and congrats last week--# uno.
I see my Senator is on Face the Nation...
(lock and load)
Senator Lamer ALexander, R-Tn has co-sponsored legislation that would make the Iraq Study
Group recommendations the basis for future U.S. strategy in Iraq.
Among the findings of the ISG was that the United States must withdraw its forces from
Iraq, that we must start doing so in substantial numbers by 2008 and that we have to open
negotiations with Iran and its wholly owned subsidiary, Syria.
You know, its striking how this document frames all the issues within the pathologies of
the enemy.
For example:
Israel is the only country to be required to make specific concessions return the Golan
Heights TO THEIR SWORN ENEMY.
But it isnt only Israel that is harmed by their actions. The US too, will be imperiled if
their views become administration policy.
HOW DO YOU NEGOTIATE WITH PEOPLE WHO WANT YOU DEAD?
In fact, the only specific strategic proposal is a linkage between Iraq and a renewed and
sustained commitment to a comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace
An Arab-Israeli peace? What does that mean? What exactly is Israel doing to Iraq, or
Tunisia, or Qatar, or any other Arabs except those in the Palestinian territories?
Another of the major recommendations is that the US engage Iran and Syria diplomatically to
include them in finding a solution to the Iraq problem.
To support this, the summary actually makes the statement, that Syria and Iran have a
national interest in preventing chaos in Iraq.
Lets just look for a moment at Iran.
Iran is under tremendous pressure from the rest of world, led by the US, to halt their
nuclear program. Part of this pressure is the very real threat that the US could resort
military action or even invasion to back up its diplomatic full court press.
If the US could be inhibited from using its military power, this would be a good thing for
Iran.
Accordingly, part of their overall defense strategy is to keep the US military tied up in
Iraq, something they are actively doing by training and supplying militias in Iraq that
create the chaos we are now seeing.
In other words, the Iranians actions suggest that their national interest is just the
opposite of what the Study Group assumes.
If the study groups assumptions about reality are wrong, then their recommendations are
probably flawed.
And Senator Lamar Alexander wants this to be US FOREIGN POLICY ?!?!?
This is a man who had to be badgered into voting against the Amnesty Bill that recently
died in the Senate. (http://bearcreekledger.com/2007/06/02/lamar-gets-a-reality-check/)
Perhaps its time for another testing the waters committee to form.
Perhaps Lamar! needs a primary challenger.
I am so close to tossing my hat in the ring....................
No. I probably assume too much.
Lamar is looking more and more like Lugar and company. Pity.
Yeah, really pathetic. How come we cannot have someone from this group on?

Vets for Freedom
Talk about absolute moral authority on the issue of Iraq. All their spokespeople are Ex military. All their spokespoeple are veterans from Afghanistan and Iraq. These are EXACTLY the sort of people the Sunday shows should want to have on. If for no other reason to differentiate themselves from all the other shows. Right now all the Sunday shows are basically the same show on different channels.
Of course, their message isn’t one the Politically Corrupt Media wants to hear so we will never see them on any of these totally useless shows.
Not only will the President veto but the “Defeat Now” Democrats do not have the votes in either House of Congress to over ride the veto.
Someone really needs to teach the DC Old Boy’s club how to count votes. 1st Immigration, now this. Both times they fiddle on issues they cannot win while the country burns.
Record gas prices, a slowing economy, taxcuts about to expiere and still our Do Nothing Congress plays stupid partisan games on Iraq.
You would of thought that after spending 5 months on Iraq, and seeing their approval ratings go from around 50% to 19%, even the Democrat party clowns in the US Senate would of wised up by now. They lost this arguement in 2002, 2004, did not even run on it in 2006 and are going to lose it again in 2007.
I read somewhere that Lamar Alexander will be retiring to become president of some university. Same with John Warner, too. Why not throw some stones, while leaving they seem to be thinking.
Go man GO!!!!
It's hard to imagine that so many politicos can put their political well being and lust for power ahead of world security.
You have to be a blind maggot not to realize that we are now playing a dangerous game of which comes first:
#1. Sanctions on Iran that lead to regime change or
#2. Iran develops a nuke and uses it on Israel before regime change. There should be a #3.
That someone stops them.
But with just enough pubbies siding with the terrorist loving dems we are headed towards a face off that should never have happened in the first place. To play chicken with the crazies in Iran is just plain stupid. And that's what we are doing.
Oh for the days of Sam Nunn and Zell Miller instead of Piglosi, Plugs, Dingy Harry,The lizard(Schoomer) and the rest of the corrupt bunch of social terrorists.
It was a terrific meeting and GW needs to do more of it,it's the only way he will ever get his message trough the DBM filters.
Exactly, nicely put. I think President also has a firewall strategy for Iraq. Did you notice that while the house dems want to “ban” any action on Iran, Senate passed an unanimous resolution warning Iran. Interesting to note that Lieberman got Levin to co-sponsor that resolution.
