Sad but true. They have a deep hatred for almost everything our founding fathers believed in, and; they will not be happy until they destroy all traditional values.

“Islam is the only major religion to acknowledge the existence of Jesus while at the same time denying His divinity, His crucifixion, and His resurrection.”

IIRC Judaism does this? (Actually I believe Islam recognizes Jesus as a lesser prophet, thus conferring divinity, as does Judaism).

“The basis of Christianity is that faith in Jesus supposedly “saves” you from the burden of the law.”

This is incorrect. Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” What faith in Jesus Christ saves you from is the penalty that breaking the law requires. The Spirit-filled, Spirit-led Christian has been given a new nature whereby he is able to know/understand/keep God’s law. But the old sin-nature still at work keeps this from being the earth-bound Christian’s constant reality. Christ’s one-time sacrifice for sin, because it is sufficient for God’s demand for justice, provides the believer who sins eternal protection from sin’s consequences.

God, in Christ, has seen to it that man’s ever-insufficient efforts at keeping the law has a remedy. But Christian’s are called to live lives that are God and Christ-honoring, and that means they are to aspire to following God and what His word says.

[Article, quoting Moore the Boor] "The right wing has appropriated this guy … and they have used him to attack gays and lesbians, when he never said a single word against people who are homosexual. Anyone who professes to be a Christian and does that is certainly not following the teachings of Jesus Christ."

He didn't comment on the directionality of gravity, either, or bibulousness, or a lot of other topics.

However, he never took down or modified the strictures of Genesis and Leviticus, and as you point out, the epistles of Paul of Tarsus and Jude the Obscure to the early Christian communities are quite explicit in condemning arsenokoitai and their lust for pornoi (rent-boys).

While driving to a doctor's appointment last week, I was listening to a Catholic nun review Michael Moore's latest movie, Sicko. (Relevant Radio) She mentioned how Moore is using his faith in his movie. I damn near drove off the road.

My goodness is she clueless.

Great points!

I hope that the Catholic Church continues to become stronger in reminding the "cafeteria Catholics" of their convictions of the Catholic faith. It is for the sake of those that are lost, and need to be reminded of what is needed to follow the teachings of Christ.

Specifically, he intends to share his biblical wisdom regarding the issue of homosexuality and what he sees as irrational hatred of it.

Good luck!!

Genesis 13:13       Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD.

Genesis 18:20-21
20. Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and
their sin so grievous
21. that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."

Genesis 19:4-7
4. Before they had gone to bed,
all the men from every part of the city of Sodom--both young and old--surrounded the house.
5. They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight?
Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them."
6. Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him
7. and said, "No, my friends.
Don't do this wicked thing.

Psalms 12:8      The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.

Ain't this just FABULOUS??      More?

Isaiah 3:9   The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.

2 Peter 2:13b  Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.

Ezekiel 16:49-50
49. "`Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.
50. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.

2 Peter 2

 1.  But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
 2.  Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
 3.  In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
 4.  For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell,  putting them into gloomy dungeons  to be held for judgment;
 5.  if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;
 6.  if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;
 7.  and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men
 8.  (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)--
 9.  if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.
 10.  This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature  and despise authority.   Bold and arrogant, these men are not afraid to slander celestial beings;
 11.  yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not bring slanderous accusations against such beings in the presence of the Lord.
 12.  But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.
 13.  They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done.
Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.

But there IS hope!!!

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

 9. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived:
Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10. nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

If you could NOT change, you would be in most pitiful shape.....

Moore told the Advocate he is a spiritual person who supports same-sex marriage.

And we can tell just what that 'spirit' is:

Matthew 12:34
O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

This is the first I've ever read of Lord Ho Ho, traitor to America, proclaiming any Christian faith on his part.

Read carefully; he didn't.

You’ve also got Jehovah Witnesses, but I doubt it counts as a ‘major’ religion.

See what happens when you are friendly with gays?

Genesis 19:6-7
6. Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him
7. and said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing.

“Romney wouldn’t like this!”

Why? What makes you think so?

Sometimes I wonder if this world is purgatory.

Michael Moore. Another trial we face. Now regarding purgatory; I agree. This life is our chance for salvation. Welcome to the Protestant world view! :P

It’s a shame that liberals have gotten into the convents and the priesthood. I am hoping that Pope Benedict will keep working to bring those in the Church back to its conservative roots.

Why? What makes you think so?

Gov. Romney is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS, commonly referred to as Mormons). Although not stated as such in The Book of Mormon, later LDS Scriptures and Church teachings are clear that God the Fether is a God and Jesus Christ is also a God (but they are one in purpose). The siring of Jesus was just like any of us were created, with God the Father in flesh and blood form.

So Farah was excluding Mormons from the definition of Christianity.

Incidentally, Orthodox Jews understand to place things in context -- we know that homosexual acts are immoral and against the word of God. But for Jews they are no worse (and probably much less serious) than flagrant Sabbath desecration.

Why don't Jews who collect wood on the Sabbath get stoned anymore?

"Because they now get drug tested on Monday" won't cut it! ;-)

“Gov. Romney is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS, commonly referred to as Mormons).”

So am I, and I don’t remember anything in our teachings that requires physical siring of Jesus by God. One in SPIRIT and purpose, IIRC. If you have references, I’d be interested in seeing them.

Because we don’t have any courts with the authority to impose the death penalty. Even then, imposition of the death penalty would require many, many procedural proofs that would make its use very rare. . . Jewish sources report that, in antiquity, the death penalty was imposed maybe once every 70 years.

[there’s no rational reason for Christians to single out homosexual acts as the one so-called “Old” testament law that still applies,]

Does Natural Law still apply, Dr. Frankenstein?
