Like millions of others around the world, I bought a copy of the final Harry Potter book last Saturday and promptly read it. Twelve hours later, I was finished, astonished, at the brilliance of J.K. Rowling.
She has woven a universe of magic, not just in her writings, but in the fact that more than a hundred million children over the years have turned off their televisions, computers, and games and sat down to read thick books.
What explains the attraction of her work? Sheer brilliance. The clarity of her vision remained unbroken despite the complexity of her creation. Readers look in wonder at the struggles and triumphs of her characters. Their imaginations fire contemplating the world where Hogwarts and Diagon Alley, house elves and dementors, Malfoys and Weasleys, Floo Network and Polyjuice Potions exist.
At long last, all the vexing questions are answered in this last Harry Potter book - the best of them all. We can't wait to see it on the big screen - that will be a movie that will exceed Star Wars at the box office.
It is very rare for me to have such an unabashed admiration for a writer. She deserves every penny of her billion dollar fortune.
Thank you Ms Rowling ... for everything.
Major dittos on JKR and the last book. She did a fantastic job of weaving in all the places and characters from the first 6 books, gave us plenty of surprises, and kept the humor in what was a fairly dark story.
Just finished it last night and will be rereading very soon.
We’re over on here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1869686/posts
I was just asking her what the big thrill was. Harry Potter doesn't seem like my cup of tea, but it's obvious that something very unusual is going on with these books.
She’s obviously demon-possesed...
I’m going to recommend that the Moderators lock this thread and send it over to the other discussion (linked above) that is going on strong.....
Exactly. Now, who could have inspired her to write that book? Could it be...........
...the same entity that inspires everyone?
