"We Have A Convoy" of Troop Supporters: Wk 82- Olney,MD 7-28-07: Operation Infinite FReep
Aug. 01,2007

Posted on 08/01/2007 2:57:19 PM PDT by trooprally

There was a constant line of dump trucks that pasted us all morning. At every light change, three or four dump trucks were there. The trucks were going and coming from a new subdivision west of us. The trucks made their turn along the curb directly in front of us. Apple Blossom's daughter held her sign that read: "HONK, Support the Troops Mission". And to the detriment of the grumpy moonbats' psyche was that almost every truck blew their air horn and waved for us.

We even had one truck that air horned the familiar "dat - dat dat dat dat - dat dat". Another truck blared its air horn all the way around the corner. And when the trucks came back, most once again blasted their air horn. It was great.

Almost as much fun as having the truckers "air horning" us was that BMW and Apple Blossom were back. Late Friday, before going to Walter Reed, the number of FReepers predicted to be at Olney were slim. After [Mrs] T talked to some Walter Reed FReepers, we were once again at a presentable number. Then to our surprise, BMWcyle and Apple Blossom drove up with one of their daughters in tow. We out numbered the grumpies, 9 to their occassional 6.

FReepers and Lurkers in attendance today were Apple Blossom and daughter, BMWcyle, (BMW), Cindy_True_Supporter (CTS), PrezUSA222 and his mom visiting from Ohio, VaFlagWaver, Mrs. Trooprally ([Mrs] T), and myself ([Mr] T). Pics are by [Mrs] T.

BELOW LEFT: CTS took up my regular right flank position She enjoyed asking the cars stopped at the traffic light "One sided peace protests are a hoax. Where is the protest against violent Jihad". BELOW RIGHT: BMW and I smoked cigars and talked at the center position. Well, I smoked cigars, plural. BMW had only one, but it made for a good pic.

BELOW LEFT:Apple Blossom and daughter taking up Lurker Bill's left flank position since he couldn't make it this Saturday. Apple Blossom had to hold Landry Fan's sign since we gave one of her signs to the little Italian and the other went home with tgslTakoma after the Walter Reed FReep on Friday. BELOW RIGHT: It was MARINE CORPS Day for VaFlagWaver. She wore a Marine pull over tee shirt and a Marine cap.

BELOW LEFT: PrezUSA222's mom. She really enjoyed herself. She also was at Walter Reed's Friday night FReep. BELOW RIGHT: And PrezUSA222 himself.

We also had 3 passerbys stop by and Thank Us for being on the corner. One lady was from nearby Damascus. Her son will be home in 10 days from Iraq for his R&R. Another is from Derwood. Both said that they'll try to make it out with us in the coming weeks and will take a look at FReeRepublic. The third lady was one of the owners of Dave's American Bistro. Besides having lunch there after our FReep today, Dave's sponsored a Armed Forces Appreciation Day back in May, 2007. We were able to put up the Walter Reed MOAB for their event.

BELOW LEFT: Our corner with passing dump truck. BELOW RIGHT: Another dump truck.

iMacMan is cruising the summer away, but before he left he created an OLNEY COLLAGE for us. BELOW is his master piece. [Mrs] T and I had it made into larger 1/4 inch thick mouse pads. As a Thank You to all FReepers and lurkers who have helped make Olney FReeps so successful, we are giving them to all those who attended the Olney FReep. And a few close FReepers friends are also receiving them. So for one hour standing at the corner in Olney supporting our troops and countering the "Quackers", you'll also receive one. ("Quackers", so FR won't be accused by BO'R of also being a religious hate site).

So come on out if you haven't already. (If you are an out-of-towner who has been to Olney and we won't be seeing you anytime soon, please FReepmail us your address so we can send one to you).

REMEMBER
Next Saturday, same place, Georgia Avenue, MD Rte. 97 and MD Rte. 108 in Olney
NEW TIME - 10:15 AM to 11:45 AM

As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

But a lot of verbal engagement in Olney is always welcome. Where is Mr. Bull Horn when we need him?

Once again a fine showing! You folks on the east coast are the best (no disrespect to anyone else)! That collage is fantastic! Great job all around! Keep up the great work! You’re one of our inspirations. When the winter gets too cold...that’s California cold (yeah, we know it’s wussie)...we are reminded of the ice/snow that you are dealing with. So, hopefully, when it gets really hot, you’ll think about us dealing with 100+ degrees at our rallies. We deal with it by remembering the troops roasting in 120+ degrees wearing full armor! Anyway, let me reinerate. Keep up the good work! And don’t worry if there are few of you because “quality is better than quantity”.

These demonstrations should be spread across the country by now, as it is in the islands! God bless all of you wonderful people. If I had a horn, I’d blow it!

Come Sept 3-15th, fly the American flag on your cars to support the convoy that will be going on to support our troops.

A sincere Thank You from the Olney FReepers. They make the AARs easy to write. The support from the cars in the heart of a County trying to out-lib California is inspiring for us.

You are absolutely right that the troops in the Afghanistan mountains during the winter and the troops in Iraq in these summer months are our inspiration.

iMacMan did a collage of the Walter Reed FReeps that was also fantastic. We got the idea from that. The difference with the Olney collage is the iMacMan has the flag back ground. There are fewer signs than the WR collage to show the flag, but I'm not complaining.

Appreciate the "east coast" kudos. But there are other long running FReeps out there.

Check out \/\/ayne's HOT - HOT Arizona FReep.

And also StarCMC's Columbia, MO FReep.

They are weekly FReeps but as I know personally, it takes time to write the AARs, but it is well worth it.

These are hints that we also want to read about your FReeps. Just a short narrative and possibly some pics are great. You can add us to your 'ping' list.

Take care and stay cool.

There are a lot of FReeps like this around. A lot do not get written up because of the time it takes or there are no pic. But I encourage all FReepers to write an AAR on their FReep.

See Post 16 for links to two long time FReeps.

Yea, you missed a good one - rubbing it in. :-))

And you missed lunch at Dave Bistro!!

But we're glad you had family in for your B-Day.

Mouse pads are "Cuol".

If any one wants one, stop by Olney and FReep with us.
