It’s a shame that Fred Thompson is too young to have played Matt Dillon..(Anti-gun Richard Cohen)

John Wayne was offered the role of Matt Dillon, turned it down, but nominated his friend James Arness for the job.

They sure want us to pick Rudy McRomney. Why would that be?

I was and are still an avid Gunsmoke viewer. I only remember a few episodes when the Marshal told all the cowboys to rack their guns upon entering Dodge. Usually ones coming off of a long cattle drive AND he always went out to the herd or sent a Deputy out to let them know ahead of time. The writers were very precise on the point. Writer went the long way to try and get an opinion.

Oh and yes the press is becoming preoccupied with Fred. I guess McCainiac is too boring now that his money dried up.

Marshall Dillon NEVER made anyone surrender their guns when they road into town. I have seen every episode ever made and not once did he ever make cowboys give up their weapons.

Cohen may be confusing "Gunsmoke" with the movie "Unforgiven".

If dead liberals can vote, why not write opinion pieces? :)

How can you have joined FR on August 2, 2007 when it isn’t even here yet?

Exactly! MAD is the best deterrent to any aggression, with exception to jihadists.

Sounds like Mr. Cohen hates cowboys as much as he hates guns.

To which I say, “Yippie-ki-yay, motherf****r...”

They got one of those new time machines that came out last week with the latest and greatest OS with podcasting capability. You haven't got one yet?

Sorry, we didn’t use “all” of our atomic weapons on Japan. IIRC, we had about five more, and would’ve been able to put together about a dozen more in a short time frame. If Japan had surrendered after the first attack, no other weapon would’ve been used. Japan as an enemy was very similar to the Muslims we face now, as many of them were not afraid to die. I fear that nuclear weapons will be used in the war on terror before all is said and done.

Actually, it was Wyatt Earp in Tombstone AZ and Dodge City KS who made the cattle drivers surrender their weapons at the city limits.

Why did you remove #31?
I didn't think it was over the line.
Just curious.

Apparently, Mr. Cohen never actually watched “Gunsmoke”. The re-runs are on every weekend, and everybody wears guns all the time. Why are libs always so anxious to prove how stupid they are?
