Mitt unplugged
Politico ^ | August 04, 2007 | Jonathan Martin

Mitt Romney engaged in a heated discussion about his Mormon faith with a prominent Des Moines talk show host off the air on Thursday morning. The contentious back-and-forth between Romney and WHO's Jan Mickelson began on the air (video link courtesy Breitbart.tv) when the former governor appeared on the popular program that has become a regular stop for GOP presidential hopefuls. But the conversation spilled over to a commercial break and went on after the program ended, where a visibly annoyed Romney spoke in much greater detail about his church's doctrines than he is comfortable doing so in public.

The footage was captured by the station's in-studio camera and posted on its website. But Romney, who is careful to portray a sunny and upbeat public image, clearly did not know he was being recorded. The candidate reveals a private side that is at turns cutting, combative and sarcastic, but most of all agitated at being forced to defend what he and his church stand for.

We'll answer the questions, but some don't like the answers, and we don't say what you want to hear.

None has answered where the AUTHORITY comes from to do the Temple rituals.

It can't be found in your scriptures.

However, I am far more uncomfortable with a Methodist named Hillary Clinton, a devotee of the Church of Christ named Barak Obama, or a member of the Church of the Tort Bar named John Edwards.

amen!

Indeed, Romney’s election might stimulate a new interest in Christianity.

Or at least get us some more LDS organization members!!

and you are prepared to participate in allowing Mitt to use the platform of POTUS to advance the LDS church? Countless photo ops, ceremonies, etc? And you know it would happen.

Please provide examples where this has happened in the past with other LDS candidates. The only things I can think of is when the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints teamed up with other churches and went door to door to have people sign petitions against the gay marriage proposed law in California. In Utah, the LDS church has come out against relaxed liquor laws (Utah is not a dry state, one can get a drink.) And the LDS church has come out against gambling, lotteries, horse racing in the state of Utah. Mitt Romney does know the difference between federalism and states rights and laws. He's not going to change the liquor laws for the whole country nor gambling. He will stand up for marriage between one man and one woman. He is pro-life and will keep the executive order in place that won't let public funds go to pay for abortions.

He won't hold religious firesides by the TV either. Believe it or not, we do believe in the separation between church and state. However, we will work to change things if there is a moral reason to. I guess I don't get what you're all afraid of. Mitt Romney nor any other person who runs for President or Senate or Congress is going to try and convert their constituency.

Correction through Jesus Christ is the only way all will be saved and all will be resurrected and than each will stand before the Judgement bar, to learn where each will be spending their eternity.

Then our prayer for you folks on these threads is to have trouble sleeping, as Christ tries to talk to you. For you'll lay there, trying to doze off, and that nagging question just WILL not go away...

Where did the LDS organization get the AUTHORITY to do our Temple Rites?

It's Not in our Scriptures...

We can't find ANYWHERE in our history books that show why they started...

Searching our official website brings up nothing...

Oh, I just might someday; but it's the Holy Spirit who is the Hound of Heaven!

HE will dog you every waking moment with the question I've been asking...

Are you ashamed of the Temple ceremonies??

It would be fun to see their collective heads explode when Mitt puts his hand on a ‘quad’ (The KJV Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price, in other words the full set of LDS scripture) to take the oath of office.

Snicker, that is funny.

The owner of the mine was on Fox News. He denied they are using the collapsed ceiling method. He said Union officials were wildly speculating (in an effort to unionize the mines in Utah) and the MSM ran with the story. There is plenty of hope for those miners.

Seven was speaking to me, personally. I was surprised that he didn’t say something like...”please continue to pray.” (Him knowing I am Christian and live in the State of Utah...I took it as an affront, I shouldn’t have, but it felt as if he was suggesting that since he was there, and praying that he thought he needed to remind me.)

I certainly didn’t need reminding. It is the topic of conversation everywhere here in Utah.

How is what sevenbak posted spam? my understanding of spam is cutting and pasting the same thing over and over again on different threads or following someone around and cutting and pasting the same thing over and over again. MHGinTN stated his opinion about the JST and sevenbak posted links to a couple of different places on lds.org. And listed several scriptures. Is that spam?

And what exactly offends you about the content Joseph Smith changed or added? Or is just the fact that he did so?

I can’t believe what I saw you write ... you have issues with others claiming to be Christian ... Hillary, Obamma etc.. and then after acknowledging that Mormonism is a glorified cult and not Christian,

YOU WANT TO VOTE FOR MITT?

“Indeed, Romney’s election might stimulate a new interest in Christianity.”

Mitt is not a Christian so this will NOT stimulate interest in Christianity - GOOD GRIEF!

When some folks do not comprehend why it is heretical of Smith rewriting the Bible in order to write false prophesies of himself into it in the Old Testament, you cannot expect them to know what Christianity or Judeo-Christian heritage is. It is grief indeed!

Here it is, the authority to do Temple Rites....

Doctrine & Covenants 124:39-41
http://scriptures.lds.org/en/dc/124

39 Therefore, verily I say unto you, that your anointings, and your washings, and your baptisms for the dead, and your solemn assemblies, and your memorials for your sacrifices by the sons of Levi, and for your foracles in your most holy places wherein you receive conversations, and your statutes and judgments, for the beginning of the revelations and foundation of Zion, and for the glory, honor, and endowment of all her municipals, are ordained by the ordinance of my holy house, which my people are always commanded to build unto my holy name.
40 And verily I say unto you, let this house be built unto my name, that I may reveal mine ordinances therein unto my people;
41 For I deign to reveal unto my church things which have been kept hid from before the foundation of the world, things that pertain to the dispensation of the fulness of times.

There you have it Christians. You want a man who believes this stuff to be POTUS??

37–44, The Lord’s people always build temples for the performance of holy ordinances;

Doctrine & Covenants 124
37 And again, verily I say unto you, how shall your washings be acceptable unto me, except ye perform them in a house which you have built to my name?

38 For, for this cause I commanded Moses that he should build a tabernacle, that they should bear it with them in the wilderness, and to build a house in the land of promise, that those ordinances might be revealed which had been hid from before the world was.

39 Therefore, verily I say unto you, that your anointings, and your washings, and your baptisms for the dead, and your solemn assemblies, and your memorials for your sacrifices by the sons of Levi, and for your oracles in your most holy places wherein you receive conversations, and your statutes and judgments, for the beginning of the revelations and foundation of Zion, and for the glory, honor, and endowment of all her municipals, are ordained by the ordinance of my holy house, which my people are always commanded to build unto my holy name.

40 And verily I say unto you, let this house be built unto my name, that I may reveal mine ordinances therein unto my people;

41 For I deign to reveal unto my church things which have been kept hid from before the foundation of the world, things that pertain to the dispensation of the fulness of times.

42 And I will show unto my servant Joseph all things pertaining to this house, and the priesthood thereof, and the place whereon it shall be built.

43 And ye shall build it on the place where you have contemplated building it, for that is the spot which I have chosen for you to build it.

44 If ye labor with all your might, I will consecrate that spot that it shall be made holy.

Joseph Smithe is a true prophet of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Please help me with this; if you believe in Christ and the holy spirit, why do you need silk under-garments to protect you?

They are a reminder of the covenants we made with Christ in the temple. They are a spiritual protection for us. They also remind us to dress modestly. "...it also strengthens the wearer to resist temptation, fend off evil influences, and stand firmly for the right."
