It’s private property, as I recall. But I’ll have another look.

There are a lot of people involved with dog fighting

Wonder how many NFL types attended or had their own entrants

I think you are right. At this point, once the Feds get an indictment the go for the jugular. Just ask Ken Lay or Martha Stewart. Vick can try to cop a plea, but it’s too late. The government is going to go after him with both barrells and try to get jail time. And they should.

At the most he’ll be banned for the season but he’ll be back on the field though.

a lot can happen in a year

But Vick may be handing the Feds some other dogfighting scalps, perphaps bigger ones than his even. I predict he does some time (3-6 months), one-year NFL suspension, he re-emerges a Jesus freak and the blackocracy gets behind him 100 percent. My only question is do the Falcons cut him or wait a year to play him again. My guess is he winds up on another team next season.

If he does any time at all in prison then I’m pretty sure he’ll be suspended for the entire year. Roger Goodel ain’t messing around. The last thing he wants is for the NFL “brand” to be tarnished with this scandal. To be honest with you, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Vick get suspended for life.

Whoever negotiates with him is no better than he is. I don’t want to hear excuses about his valuable knowledge - I want to see him in prison for a very long time.

Ray Lewis didn't murder anyone and nobody ever said he did. The DA never believed he killed anyone. Nobody ever testified he did it. It was a DA ploy to get him to cop a plea and talk.

I seriously can't stand people saying he murdered someone when that was not really ever alleged in court and its fact as to who did the stabbing.

Who is Jamel Lewis? I think you have him confused with a different Lewis.

Jamal Lewis plead to conspiracy to traffic cocaine and got four months in prison(in the off season), some time at a half way house, 5 years probation and community service for using his cell phone to arrange a drug deal that never occurred. He was suspended for the fist four games of 2006(I think, or it may have been 2005, time flies) under the leagues drug policy and continues to play.

I heard a radio blurb about the negotiations this a.m., and later read an article online. I found it curious that both specifically noted something to the effect that...

"Sources told ESPN's Kelly Naqi that Vick attorneys Larry Woodward and Billy Martin met with federal prosecutor Michael Gill and the investigators on Monday afternoon."

To me, the presence of investigators at the plea negotiations suggests that the feds are hoping to get Vick to drop a few additional names or at least cough up a few new leads. I'm not going to predict it, but I wouldn't be surprised if a few more NFL, or other high profile names get squeezed out of this.

It probably did send shivers through the league, especially given that the Rae Carruth thing was still winding through the courts. There was a major timing difference though. Lewis’ issue was completely during the off season, by the time the NFL might have cared (ie the start of the season) he’d already plead to a greatly reduced charges. There’s no way they’d kick somebody out of the league for misdemeanor obstruction of justice, the courts only gave him 1 year of unsupervised probation after all. As for kicking him out for being in the wrong crowd, remember the other two won their cases, even if they did it there’s no proof and nothing to build punishment on.

The team can only suspend him for a maximum of 4 games. The league can suspend him for a full year.

If he doesn’t reach a plea agreement this week, new charges, possibly RICO charges, might kick in. If so, he would be facing some serious prison time.

Hr will reach a deal. He will go to prison. He has thrown away his career.

IMO.

He will fit in nicely in Oakland. The thug fans there will love him!

It’s intertesting that Vick never - NEVER - asserted his innocence.

Yes, he did. He said he's innocent because he was never at the house and did not know about the dogfighting. He blamed his family for running the operation behind his back when he was giving them money to run a dog kennel.

I agree. Vick’s career is toast if anything except a dismissal of charges or an acquittal occurs. I don’t see either happening.

Vick won’t play for the Falcons again. They’ll go with Harrington this year, then draft Brian Brohm next April. They may also sign Byron Leftwich to be a placeholding starter for a year or two while Brohm picks up the NFL game.
