I'm not aware of any "slaughter of civilians" in Vietnam after our withdrawal. What is it that you think the boat people were trying to get away from so desperately?
To: philman_36; Allegra; CWOJackson
Again, I'm here for entertainment purposes only. You and Jackson have much in common. That's what he always says as well.
As distinct from your entertainment value, which is purely accidental?

Post #130. Goodness...I don't even know where to start with that one.
{Holding hand over mouth...suppressing laughter...suppressing...suppressing...}
No, I can't do it.
ROFLMAO!! He really said all of that??
{Deep breath...}
ROFLMAO some more!

He/She (sorry Allegra, don't know which) was making the point that, even if Ron Paul somehow did get a lick of sense and drop out of the GOP nomination race, the RonPaulies would still hang around and try to stir the pot for him, anywise.
Well, Allegra, is that what "it" is or is that just a WAG by TQC?
BTW, Allegra is a she. There are pics of her on FR.

term used to describe the Indochinese refugees who fled Communist rule after the Vietnam WarWhat did
you think they were getting away from?

Not the similarity of Paul's and McGovern's words when misrepresenting the slaughter in the aftermath of Vietnam today. After all there's another war to oppose.
Once we left Vietnam and quit bombing its people they became friends and trading partners
George McGovern
After Vietnam that did not happen, which what was predicted; we're trading partners and they're capitalistic now
Ron Paul.

GREAT! I've got "entertainment value" (whatever that is). Pay the cashier on the way out.

I have no idea what you've just written. Could you clarify?
There was no slaughter in Vietnam, which you misrepresented, and I can't understand why you're trying to equate what happened then with what's happening today. It is only presumed that a slaughter will take place and, frankly, I could care less if they offed each other over there!
If our pulling our troops out means they start infighting then I say bring our guys and galls home today and let 'em kill each other off.

Did you finish Deathly Hallows before you left? You are not going to believe the boneheaded thing I did. I was down to the last couple hundred pages and was going to finish it on my 6-hour plane ride today. I was looking forward to doing that.
I left the book in the cab that took me to the airport in Kuwait this morning (in the wee hours...I just was not awake), naturally couldn't get a copy in a Muslim airport. So I spent the plane ride listening to my iPod and reading the Stars and Stripes.
As soon as I got settled into my hotel this afternoon, I raced across the street to Waterstone Books and got another copy. And WILL finish it very soon.
What a bonehead, huh?
Keep your chin up, Sistah...it will get easier. No matter how much we love our furry friends, and how much we may not like to admit it, I know some pets are just more special than others. And Dennis was one of those.
He'll wait. :-)

Oooops...I copied the wrong comment into my post to you.
Jet-lag. Sleep deprivation. Getting out of Iraq is an ordeal that takes a few days and does not allow for much sleep. It is an exhausting endeavor that's worth it because...well, I'm not in Iraq for a couple of weeks.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;-)

there's little-to-no proof this was rigged. That was my point.Proof? lol, You're kidding right? The whole point of the article is the "proof" was destroyed while behind locked doors and again, while I don't give a hoot about Ron Paul you can't take his claims and totally dismiss them unless you are one of the ones seeking to limit his support or naive. You aren't a "seminar poster" are you?
Listen... the allegation that polls, elections, whatever are rigged do contain some merit. I think it is safe to say that I personally know thousands of people and out of those thousands of people I can hardly count the number of people that would vote for Bill Clinton yet he won two terms in the White House. I watched as Al Gore's team sought to have overseas military votes excluded from being counted in 2000 while insisting that the only votes that were not counted in Florida were those of demoncraps in Dade county and so on. All of this in a county run by demoncraps.
Naaaaah... I do not like Ron Paul. I also do not like Rudy, Mitt, and several others on the Republican ticket but I do like Hunter, Tancredo and the more I learn about him I am beginning to like Huckabee as do many of my friend and acquaintances. Will any of them win? Not if the globalists are in control of counting the ballots and I am not naive enough to think otherwise.

Do you honestly believe there was no slaughter after we pulled our troops out of Vietnam?

Actually, that is not what happened.
Snip...It is true that Vietnam eventually became a trading partner (friend is another matter). But this was not true that it occurred once we left and quit bombing its people. Before that took place, a Republican president confronted the Soviet Union in Europe and Afghanistan and forced the collapse of the Soviet empire. It was only then, after the Cold War enemy and support of the Vietnamese Communists had been defeated, that they accommodated themselves to co-existence with the United States.

In Vietnam or in Cambodia? Where are you talking about?
