Feminists' Hot Air
New York Post ^ | August 20, 2007 | Carrie Lukas

TO thunderous acclaim from the liberal intelligentsia, a team of feminist icons - including Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda - last year launched a women-run radio network. The mainstream media dutifully parroted press releases describing the launch as a "breakthrough" for women in the male-dominated world of talk radio.

The Boston Globe, for example, proclaimed that "GreenStone gives women an outlet." Business Week described the venture as "Talk Radio Minus The Testosterone."

Last Friday, GreenStone Media signed off for good. Why did this effort fail?

The Champlain Valley station hasn't changed their site yet. Their logo:

"They took off that exciting Al Franken and Ed Schulz for THIS?"

GreenStone Media's brand of tepid liberalism didn't appeal to women. This isn't a tragedy for women; it's the market at work.

"the market at work"

For America-hating, anti-capitalist, socialist liberal Democrats that single phrase is the most hated phrase in the English language. Apparently Ted Turner is a chauvinist pig or he would have thrown some of his money down the toilet keeping GreenStone alive the way George Soros kept Air America on artificial life support. Oh wait - - Turner already flushed Fonda down the toilet after flushing a billion dollars down the UN toilet.

Whatever happened to Algore TV? And why isn’t he broadcasting his tirades from that network?

Good question, never hear about it anymore. I think I have it in my cable package (I know I tuned it in once).

How about open the beer that you bring to me.

I prefer my wife not open the beer she brings me. Because when she does she drinks some of it leaving less for me.

The folks who want to “save progressive talk” don’t believe in the concept of the market at work...they would rather
basically gut Freedom of the Press* by using the (un)Fairness Doctrine to kill ALL talk radio...if their Air America
can’t succeed, well then, they’ll bring down ALL of
talk radio just so “...Rush can’t spread his lies...”
Tolerant liberals, eh. “We’ll let you say what you want.
Only as long as you agree with us.”

*—that’s really what it is. The government stepping in
to monitor talk radio? The gall of them. And basically
bringing back the FD would make talk radio programmers
hesitant to air ANY ‘controversial’ programming, lest
they be forced to give equal time to NPR-style boring
hosts, conspiracy theory ranters, and unfunny comedians.

Which would kill their ratings, their business,
and ultimately talk radio.

How about, STOP TALKING during sports and war movies that I am currently watching on TV

I'd be happy with just being able to stop feigning interest when Mrs wbill talks about "Her mother's neighbor's friend - you know, the one that you met at the party that one time eight years ago that collects minature cow sculptures? Well, SHE said that.....".

My needs are simple.

Why do these crazy dykes and femynysts always use their reproductive organs in their logos and advertising?

I'd do the same, but the ad would be expensive ;)

Spot on.
My life likes to fill me in on the details of lives of people I’ve never met. That, and she’ll hold a two-hour telephone call and then expect me to listen while she replays the entire freaking call.

Why did this effort fail?

1. It was only on after midnight.

2. You were required to stay up all night...

3. ...talk about boys...

4. ...paint each others' toenails.

"Show up naked and bring beer."

Funny how the simple solution is the most effective.

My dad is a MOFW (Man Of Few Words). We've spent entire weekends fishing with nothing more being said than "Pass me another beer" and "Geez, that's a nice fish."

Both of us had a blast. Interesting, that we both married women that can talk the paint off the walls. Dad's Mother and Father were the same way, too.

During family get togethers, the guys usually congregated in the garage or on the porch. Grandpa said that it was the only place he could think, becuase the kitchen (where the women were) sounded like someone threw a fox in a henhouse.

I miss Grandpa. He called it like he saw it.

My life lol! Interesting Freudian Slip. My wife is my life, too.

I love her dearly....just not all of the talking. I'm looking forward to getting a house with a workshop. I lost my office, when wbill jr. came along.

>> What a farce. The elusive male brain? Men are easy to understand, folks. It’s the female brain that man has no chance of decoding.

No kidding.

I think Jeff Foxworthy put it well ... “If you’ve ever wondered what a guy is thinking ... I’ll tell you. He’s thinking, ‘I’d like a beer, and I’d like to see somethin’ naked.’”

Generally speaking, give a good man sex, the remote control, and make him a sandwich - and he’ll give you the world.

I once saw a hilarious little booklet entitled, "All Things Man Has Learned About Woman."

Every page in the booklet was blank.

Like women need another way to talk :D (I’m a woman, is it OK if I say that?)

***********

I've rarely had any interest in "women only" activities or organizations. It just seems odd to me, for the most part.

Actually - the funniest book I’ve ever seen, was actually supposed to be a serious book. It was “Great Women throughout History” or the “Greatest Feminists in History” or something like that ...

... it was about 18-pages-long. Ha! So much for the droves of great feminists.

The problem wasn’t that it was radio for women...the problem is that it was radio for radically liberal women. Doomed to failure.
