Feminists' Hot Air
New York Post ^ | August 20, 2007 | Carrie Lukas

TO thunderous acclaim from the liberal intelligentsia, a team of feminist icons - including Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda - last year launched a women-run radio network. The mainstream media dutifully parroted press releases describing the launch as a "breakthrough" for women in the male-dominated world of talk radio.

The Boston Globe, for example, proclaimed that "GreenStone gives women an outlet." Business Week described the venture as "Talk Radio Minus The Testosterone."

Last Friday, GreenStone Media signed off for good. Why did this effort fail?

Same here. I would hope that my bond with someone would be based on something deeper than that we both have female reproductive organs :)

Indeed. Men aren’t really so bad, either. :)

Hahaha.

I open my husband’s beer for him...mainly because it usually isn’t a twist-off.

I think it really is an ideological failure, not a gender-specific failure.

If conservatives were to launch a woman-run radio network, featuring Ingraham, Coulter et al, I'd bet good money it would do pretty well--certainly better than the liberal attempt. Conservatives of both sexes (yes, both, meaning two) would be interested in tuning in. What man, liberal or conservative, is willing to listen to Steinem, Fonda et al? They're a bunch of man-haters!

Nothing like alienating 50% of your potential audience!

LOL..... a bigger, faster, more disastrous flop than Airheads America. Looks like the appetite for left-wing propaganda is already satiated by NPR, along with all the other dinosaur media aka PBS, NBC, PMSNBC, CBS, ABC, NY Times, et al.

Why do leftists continue to imagine that there is some vast unmet need for such worthless propaganda when millions of pinheads already enjoy NPR and friends?

My GF is not drink beer that much so I am safe.
There is nothing more annoying than when she brings me a beer while I am sitting on the couch, then I have to get up and walk back into the kitchen because she “forgot” to open it.

Actually - I’ve always like listening to/ reading radical feminists ... they make me laugh (in a condescending, “what a miserable bunch of lunatics” sort-of way).

My favorite radical feminist diatribe of all-time was off of a now-defunct feminist blog called the “biting beaver” (no kidding, that was the name). She wrote a 5-page rant about the evils of penetration (exactly what it sounds like) ... what a loon.

95% of the beer I keep in the house is in a can, so I don’t have that problem.

Seems to work pretty well for my wife ... but I’m a pretty simple guy, I guess. Hell - I don’t even need a beer ... a refreshingly carbonated Coca-Cola will be just fine (don’t forget the sandwich, sex and remote, though).

Actually - I think that was pretty much the premise of Dr. Laura’s book about understanding your husband.

What is it that these feminists have to whine about?

" Laura Ingraham and Dr. Laura, and many women DO listen to male hosts like Rush and Hannity. Er, notice a trend here?

There are several more women talk-hosts besides the two you mention, and there is room for more women talk-hosts, but they must be entertaining. I see two trends in talk-hosts: conservative talk (the obvious trend), but I don't think the talk has to be conservative; however, it must be entertaining. Hardly no one wants to suffer through a lot of either cutsy-pink or Hilary-Nag.

"We’re fierce, we’re feminist, and we’re in your face!"

Actually, I think feminists ought to reconsider that motto. It conjurs up certain visuals that they don't want associated with their general attitude. { 8^)
