I desire therefore that in every place men should pray, without anger or quarreling or resentment or doubt [in their minds], lifting up holy hands.
We pray for President Bush. Father, we are in awe at the struggles he faces on the right and on the left and know that it is Your strength in him alone that keeps him standing strong. Continue to fill him daily with Your fullness, wisdom and might. Surround him with whatever help he needs—spiritual, physical, and emotional--and with people who have wise and godly counsel. Make the path You have for our country clear to him, and we trust You to meet all of his needs to accomplish these goals.
We bless You for each and every man and woman who has given his life into our service for our physical protection—our blessed military. They are gifts from You, and we are grateful that You have called them. We see them as serving You first and, therefore, we ask You to provide for their needs. Protect them, give them the armor and weapons they need, comfort them with Your peace, give them sound sleep, strong spiritual food and mental health. Make a way for them through their military service and, again, when they return home. Oh, Thank You, Father for all we know You are doing, for we know those actions are mighty, good and right.
By Your Spirit and the entrance of Your Word, we pray, Lord of the Harvest, send this nation Light. Let Your Word have free course and open doors of utterance. It is Your will that all be saved. Help Your children, servants, brothers and sisters to work with You in bringing in the Harvest before night comes and no one can work.
Thank You for calling us Your own and for answering our prayers in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God. —Romans 12:1
In his book The Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladwell observes that struggling businesses are often turned around by one key decision. Many once-foundering companies are now thriving and successful because of a choice that became the tipping point.
Although targeted to those in business management, the principle also applies to those who are committed to advancing the cause of Christ. Sometimes we find ourselves up against a wall, struggling with a decision or situation that threatens to cripple our capacity for effective service to our King. It’s at those critical junctures that we can make a “tipping point” decision to turn things around.
The decision? Surrender your will and heart to God. James 4:7 says, “Submit to God,” and Romans 12:1 tells us, “Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God.” Be willing to sacrifice your agenda for His greater purposes.
What if Noah had told God, “I don’t do boats!” What if Joseph had not forgiven his brothers and failed to protect them from the life-threatening famine? Or what if Jesus had refused to die on the cross?
Surrender is the tipping point. When we make that choice, God can use us to do great things for Him.

It is strange how little use we make of the spiritual blessings which God
gives us, but it is stranger still how little use we make of God himself.
Though he is “our own God,” we apply ourselves but little to him, and ask
but little of him. How seldom do we ask counsel at the hands of the Lord!
How often do we go about our business, without seeking his guidance! In
our troubles how constantly do we strive to bear our burdens ourselves,
instead of casting them upon the Lord, that he may sustain us! This is not
because we may not, for the Lord seems to say, “I am thine, soul, come and
make use of me as thou wilt; thou mayst freely come to my store, and the
oftener the more welcome.” It is our own fault if we make not free with
the riches of our God. Then, since thou hast such a friend, and he invites
thee, draw from him daily. Never want whilst thou hast a God to go to;
never fear or faint whilst thou hast God to help thee; go to thy treasure
and take whatever thou needest-there is all that thou canst want. Learn
the divine skill of making God all things to thee. He can supply thee with
all, or, better still, he can be to thee instead of all. Let me urge thee,
then, to make use of thy God. Make use of him in prayer. Go to him often,
because he is thy God. O, wilt thou fail to use so great a privilege? Fly
to him, tell him all thy wants. Use him constantly by faith at all times.
If some dark providence has beclouded thee, use thy God as a “sun;” if
some strong enemy has beset thee, find in Jehovah a “shield,” for he is a
sun and shield to his people.
If thou hast lost thy way in the mazes of life, use him as a “guide,” for
he will direct thee.
Whatever thou art, and wherever thou art, remember God is just what thou
wantest, and just where thou wantest, and that he can do all thou wantest.
