Democrats Strategize on How to Cast the U.S. Troop Surge in Iraq as Failure (Rats spinning)

As I've said on a few other threads, the Rats now have two choices as to how to go about the recent progress in Iraq. They can either suck it up and admit Bush was right about the surge (as some have done) or they can make bigger fools of themselves and try to skewer the Iraq report and make it look negative. It seems most have chosen to make bigger fools of themselves. Typically Democrat.

Yes, but the immigration bill failed primarily due to public outcry, which may not have been taken seriously by the Republicans had they won again.

It was a no win. We had to choose from arrogant, self-serving, elitist, Republicans telling us to ‘sit down and shut up’ because they know what’s best, or Nancy/Reid gang communists in charge. There was no possible good outcome.

One thing this episode has done is to expose what used to be called ‘mainstream’ Democrats, as the loony-Left-wing, traitors that they are who are obsessed with America being defeated in Iraq. This does not play well broadly.

I have many posts on this board that said before the 06 mid terms that the liberals were using the wedge issue of immigration to supress the GOP base... it happened...then post election I blame stay at home Republicans that have abondoned George W. Bush in droves because they have fallen for this trap set up by the left.

The left will spin anything to make Bush the fall guy.. that is their MO since the 04 election cycle... I mean give it a break we were in Iraq for less than 1 year and it was being spun as quagmire, vietnam, failure, blah, blah...

The left has played politics with the defining moment of our generation. History will only record the victor in this. If we fail, I fear it will be the beginning of the end of this country. If we succeed we will reap the fruits of peace for our children and grandchildren...

I too am very angry about the immigration issue, but I keep in mind that the left will never have a leader who tries or as a group will try to protect the American people as GWB has. Or appoint conservative judges or lower taxes etc.

I’m also concerned that it might be too late. There won’t be another chance.

The last election was not about the war, as much as the MSM and the Dims wanted it to be. The election was lost because the Republicans FORGOT what got them there in the first place.

Fiscal responsibilty and lower taxes.

The Democrats are all about losing and hurting America. The fact that the “surge” is working is a real burr under their saddle. These people grow more despicable with each passing day.

The Repubs in last congress spent money like a drunken sailor, against every conservative ethic that got them elected in the first place. Their inability to put the Democrat minority in it's place to get effective legislation done, judges approved and a real decrease in the job of government is what got them un-elected.

Instead we got 'Homeland Security', another bureaucracy to compound the others, and a money pit. We got the Patriot Act, which allowed the intrusion on basic livelihood at the expense of personal rights. More pork attached to every bill that was the Dimocrap hallmark when they were in charge.People were fed up with the same ol, same ol, just with R's instead.

The war was a factor, but not the primary reason the Repubs lost BOTH houses.

I agree with you. It was, however, all you heard about from the media.

And ‘08 is shaping up to be a re-run of that. You already see it on FR and other blogs, the “I’ll never vote for so-and-so because they aren’t a ‘true conservative’, or whatever". Unless we’re united behind our candidate, whomever it ends up being, in a way perhaps like we never have been before, we’re going to hand Hillary! the keys to 1600 again. Only this time around, we probably won’t survive it.

Exactly, the Dims wanted it to be THE issue they won Congress on, not the failings of the Repubs.
