Call me cynical, but I find the release of "September Dawn" at the time when Mitt Romney is working for the Republican presidental nomination more than coincidence. At a time when Hollywood goes out of its way to launch films that support Liberal candidates for public office ("Bowling for Columbine", An Inconvenient Truth"), a film now about the slaughter of settlers by Mormons at the Mountain Meadows Massacre of 1857 is just too coincidental to be simple chance. Romney has been under increasingly hostile attention from the MSM and Liberals in general.
So “they” knew in 2004 that Mitt was running?
Or did “they” make the movie just in case?
The timing of this film, along with its historical errors, is definately a hit piece. Looking at their ads, I get the impression that the producers think Romney and the LDS church are the real threat to America, as opposed to jihadists who want to kill us all. Note the 9/11 tie in.
What historical errors are you referring to?
I think it was the Mormons who committed this atrocity exactly 150 years ago (a nice round number that often prompts books, movies, etc) that prompted the timing of this release more than anyone. I blame them for trying to sabotage Mitt. Bad Mormons, bad!
This September 11, is the 150 year anniversary of the Massacre. It has been in production for 3-5 YEARS. It has nothing to do with Romney, except in the minds of conspiracy theorists. Here is a thread posted in January 2006 about the movie and the problems in production and finding a distributor.

I know!! Who could have thought 150 years ago Mormons thought 'hey let's set up the historical record for a hit piece on Mormons 150 years from now'. And they did it on 9/11 as well!! Didn't those Mormons 150 years ago realize the importance of 9/11?!? Just the way the announcer said September 11th...seriously!! And OMG, they're releasing it on August 24th. Why that's....hmmmm...guess that's just a date isn't it?
Oh wait, some of us are paranoid and think everything from history is a hitpiece...Sorry if it doesn't meet your standard but I imagine considering the anniversary was 150 years ago this year that's probably more to the reason it's released now
Just more anti-Mormon babble with a few lies and suppositions thrown in for good measure.
Mostly that Brigham Young sanctioned the Mountain Meadows massacre. Once getting wind oof it, he tried to stop it but the message casme two days too late. And no, I am not now, nor have ever been a member of the LDS Church.
This film is getting terrible reviews so I don’t think Mitt needs to be concerned.
From the bad reviews its getting (16% Fresh so far on Rotten Tomatoes), I’d say the timing is due to how bad the film is. They couldn’t release it earlier in the summer and compete with Spiderman. I guess they’ll take their chances with Superbad. Uncle Rico is in it, so I guess I’ll see it in the hopes that he says “How much you bet I can throw this football over the mountains?”
You better check your tinfoil. You are missing a key connection. Do you really not know the significance of Aug 24?
On Aug 24, 1995, Windows 95 was released. Look for the Microsoft money. /tinfoil
Also, the anniversary of the burning of DC in the War of 1812.
“Id say the timing is due to how bad the film is”
I agree, the release is not part of a greater conspiracy, it is simply standard marketing, They weren’t planning an attack on Romney’s primary efforts, they were desperately looking for an optimum marketing hook.
This is the same window that anybody would have chosen, and there is no way that they would have shelved it until next year, which would better fit the conspiracy theories.
I did a search on Aug 24, 1995 but using a computer that runs Windows nothing came up..hmmmmm
It is absurd to thing that Brigham Young, who ruled like a dictator, and therefore knew that it was going to happen by virtue of the theory that he did sent word to stop it from occurring, that is if you believe the sanitized account of his role in the massacre. How could the massacre have been set in motion if not for BY’s personally calling the shot? No Mormon wants to deal with that question.
I believe that they have on their website www.lds.org
In any case, we are both entitlrd to our opinions.
No, more finely tuned timing would have been later in the year or very early next year.
If you think we are rough on him for Mormonism, in the general election, if he ever gets that far, he will be savaged for it by the MSM and the demorats.
