Lesbian priest makes list for Chicago bishop
Chicago Tribune ^ | August 29, 2007 | Manya A. Brachear

Though global Anglican leaders have urged the U.S. church to unequivocally exclude gay bishops by next month, an openly lesbian Episcopal priest is among the five nominees for bishop of the Chicago diocese announced Tuesday.

Rev. Tracey Lind, who followed Chicago Bishop William Persell as dean of Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland, is one of three women named as finalists to replace Persell, who plans to resign after his successor is installed. It is the first slate of candidates in the diocese to include women.

"Since the day last winter when I was asked to make myself available to this nominating process, my discernment prayer has been that God would continue to lead me to serve God's new creation in the church," Lind said in a statement. "I believe that accepting this nomination is what God is asking of me, and I will strive to respond to that call faithfully and with grace."

If Lind wins the election and approval from the larger church, then she would be the second Episcopal bishop living with a same-sex partner.

New Hampshire Bishop V. Gene Robinson was consecrated in 2003, drawing ire from conservative Episcopalians and many members of the worldwide Anglican Communion, of which the Episcopal Church is the American arm. Episcopalian leaders have been searching for ways to maintain an inclusive denomination while preserving unity with conservative factions of the Anglican world who believe homosexuality violates Scripture....

It is apparently the goal of the leftist in the Episcopalian Church is to kill this Church

Of course it is. If these pervs wanted a church they could have gone off and started one. What they really wnat is two-fold: 1)to dissolve the traditional values of JudeoChristianity and 2) get their hands on the trust fund money, buildings and other assets which endow much of the ECUSA/TEC.

“Am I a bit off here or is the gender wrong when you refer to someone as a lesbian PRIEST.... shouldn’t it be Priestess?”

Good question, I hope we hear from the word experts.

Absolutely - one radical nun was asked why she simply didn’t leave the RC Church -”That’s where the copy machines are!” she answered.

Copy machines and everything else too.

what is your source for this:

from http://www.goarch.org the official Greek Orthodox Church website:

The Orthodox Church believes that homosexuality should be treated by religion as a sinful failure. In both cases, correction is called for. Homosexuals should be accorded the confidential medical and psychiatric facilities by which they can be helped to restore themselves to a self-respecting sexual identity that belongs to them by God’s ordinance.
http://www.goarch.org/en/ourfaith/articles/article7101.asp

you don’t list your reasons, but the Greek Orthodox Church is hardly a shill for this homosexual agenda manure. (of course many of their priets are actually married when they take their vows and do have children so their positions may be a bit traditional)

The list is taken from the NCC website. I believe the Antiochian Orthodox Church has left the NCC.

I think the new problem is atheists in the preisthood who view the priesthood as a mere job or an acting gig.

and the reason to avoid this non-binding group is?

seems there are more than a few very conservative groups in that organization.

Has the group officially said all their members MUST accept homosexuals as normal? perform homosexual marriages? accept women as priests?

"At a dinner party last Saturday night, I asked my guests how they make the connection. It resulted in a thoughtful, lively, provocative, and sometimes heated table conversation..."

I can think of one subject that was taboo at that dinner party.

An American Expat in Southeast Asia

No, but I can assure you there are no conservative groups in the NCC. The NCC is a very left-wing group put together originally to promote Communism and socialism. There is nothing good about this group.

Read their website. It looks like the radical wing of the Democrat party wrote it.

Here is only one thread on FR.

The same argument that the Scriptures and two thousand years of church tradition are outdated and ignorant has paved the way for the acceptance of women priests (priestesses)and homosexuality, and it will be used in the near future to ordain pedophiles and other deviant. For this woman to claim that God has anything to do with her life is absurd. God is not going to bless what he has condemned.

The Greek Orthodox Church is hardly “left wing”. I wonder how they slipped in since they are very conservative on social issues.

Or a social reformation agency

If you're Greek Ortho and you donate to your church and your church pays to the NCC, you're helping fund left wing causes and I urge you to do all kinds of research.

When we left the ELCA for the LCMS, the first question I asked of the LCMS pastor was if the LCMS belonged to the NCC. I refuse to ever have one cent of my money fund these traitors.

The NCC has run into funding problems because of people leaving so now George Soros and the Ford Foundation or helping fund them.
