I have a knee-jerk hostility to people who use the word “Source” instead of “Buy” or “Purchase”.
Grrrrrr....
I hates them.
Hates them.

Calm down, I believe the gist of the article was that Starbucks has decided the cheapest way of supplying coffee to it’s expanding Chinese stores was to grow more of the stuff in China (Chinese tariffs on non-Chinese coffee).
Now if that stuff has juicy melamine or sweet lead in it, well, domestic Chinese customers, who cares about them?

On a cold cold freezing morning, nothing keeps you going like hot coffee contaminated with minute traces of ethyl glycol.

Have you heard about the chickens grown in America - processed in China - and then sold in America?
That's just insane.

Insane? Perhaps, but you can be sure some government regulation, tax, tariff or subsidy makes it profitable to somebody.

[Some analysts say import tariffs as high as 20 to 60 percent are the reason why companies such as Starbucks are considering sourcing coffee from China.]
Anyone see a problem with this?

I guess even that’s better than Kopi Luwak, the Indonesian coffee made from civet droppings.

"China does produce some quality coffee," Wang said at the summit..."Yeah, right. I doubt that they will produce anything approaching the quality of high-end arabica coffee, but then again, it's Starbucks, so what do they care about flavor?
