For I the Lord thy God
will hold thy right hand,
saying unto thee,
Fear not: I will help thee.

Heavenly Father,

You are our strong tower. We need Your strength every hour of every day. We live in trying times, and we long for the peace that only You can provide. Help us, Father, to keep our eyes on Jesus, so that we may not be swept away by the thundering tides of uncertainty around us.

We ask You to carry our President’s burden for him. He has been tried and tested beyond measure during the years of his presidency. Thank You for being the source of his strength and wisdom as he works through so many difficult issues and events. We are grateful that he guards and measures his words, knowing that he is being obedient to you and is responding to Your leading. We pray that he would be protected and blessed as he continues his travels. May he represent our nation well and may he always be a bold ambassador for Jesus Christ. He is Your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which You ordained for him. Thank You for calling him to serve during this time. We trust in You to provide everything he needs so that he may honor You in all his ways.

We pray that those who stand for freedom and liberty in Iraq would gain in strength and would continue to push toward the day when the Iraqis can proclaim those ideals for everyone in their country. Accept our grateful praise for Your daily provision for our military men and women. We pray that they would maintain justice and do what is right in all circumstances. May Your blessing be upon their families who must deal with their absence. Please send messengers of Your Holy Spirit to help them with their needs.

And now, Mighty God, You Who are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think, please help the people of this nation to unite once again in common purpose. Help us to honor You, Father, and to return to Your truths. Endow unto our President and our nation's leaders Your wisdom to know how to respond to these difficult times. Send forth Your Spirit to this nation, for we need You, Lord, and we pray always that You would be not far from us. In the Precious Name of Jesus Christ we offer these prayers. Amen.

As he has with his Lord, may our Brother President find favor in the sight of those with whom he meets, for none can deny his unflinching determination in the face of the fiercest opposition.

Getting Through

READ: Psalm 46

I will hear what God the LORD will speak, for He will speak peace to His people and to His saints. —Psalm 85:8

Gone are the days when a real person greets you on the other end of a phone call. It seems as though whenever we try to “reach out and touch someone,” we are greeted with a computerized voice.

I’m glad this isn’t true of our Father in heaven. He is always there. No voice-mail boxes, no “press 2 for more grace” and no “call waiting” interruptions. Thankfully, “Call to Me, and I will answer you” (Jer. 33:3) has not been replaced by, “All lines are now busy. Your call is important to Me. Please stay on the line.”

Yet I wonder what kind of access He has to us?

Communication with God is a two-way street. He speaks to us through His Word when we come attentively before Him in prayer and through the clear voice of the indwelling Spirit. He paid a great price to keep the lines open so that we can experience the joy of being still long enough to know that He is God (Ps. 46:10). As my grandmother’s favorite hymn “In the Garden” says:

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,

And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known. —Miles

The joy of hearing His voice is a call you don’t want to miss!

Is God getting through to you?

AMEN SISTER AND GRACE TO ALL CHRISTIAN PATRIOTS!

Psalms 120:1
A Song of Ascents. In my distress I cried to the LORD, And He heard me.

Psalms 120:2
Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips And from a deceitful tongue.

Psalms 120:3
What shall be given to you, Or what shall be done to you, You false tongue?

Psalms 120:4
Sharp arrows of the warrior, With coals of the broom tree!

Psalms 120:5
Woe is me, that I dwell in Meshech, That I dwell among the tents of Kedar!

Psalms 120:6
My soul has dwelt too long With one who hates peace.

Psalms 120:7
I am for peace; But when I speak, they are for war.
(NKJV)

“Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar.”

- Psalm 120:5

As a Christian you have to live in the midst of an ungodly world, and it
is of little use for you to cry “Woe is me.” Jesus did not pray that you
should be taken out of the world, and what he did not pray for, you need
not desire. Better far in the Lord’s strength to meet the difficulty, and
glorify him in it. The enemy is ever on the watch to detect inconsistency
in your conduct; be therefore very holy. Remember that the eyes of all are
upon you, and that more is expected from you than from other men. Strive
to give no occasion for blame. Let your goodness be the only fault they
can discover in you. Like Daniel, compel them to say of you, “We shall not
find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him
concerning the law of his God.” Seek to be useful as well as consistent.
Perhaps you think, “If I were in a more favourable position I might serve
the Lord’s cause, but I cannot do any good where I am”; but the worse the
people are among whom you live, the more need have they of your exertions;
if they be crooked, the more necessity that you should set them straight;
and if they be perverse, the more need have you to turn their proud hearts
to the truth. Where should the physician be but where there are many sick?
Where is honour to be won by the soldier but in the hottest fire of the
battle? And when weary of the strife and sin that meets you on every hand,
consider that all the saints have endured the same trial. They were not
carried on beds of down to heaven, and you must not expect to travel more
easily than they.
They had to hazard their lives unto the death in the high places of the
field, and you will not be crowned till you also have endured hardness as
a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
Therefore, “stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

C.H.SPURGEON

SOLI DEO GLORIA!

Amen to your prayers.

Father, there is a rest for the people of God. In his labors, we ask You for a rest for our President and his family. As Faith has asked you for Your burden-carrying ministry, we believe that Your peace will guard his heart and mind. You have said that You give to Your beloved even in their sleep, so we thank You for watching over that word to perform it. To his soul we say, “Peace, be still and know that He is God.”

I pray that the President will always love You O Lord, with all his heart, with all his soul, with all his mind, and with all his strength and that he will love his neighbor as himself. Make him aware that there is no greater command than this.

National Days of Prayer and Remembrance, 2007
A Proclamation By the President of the United States of America

White House News

During this year’s National Days of Prayer and Remembrance, we honor the thousands of victims who died in the brutal and ruthless attacks in New York City, Pennsylvania, and at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Our Nation remembers with gratitude the firefighters, police officers, first responders, and ordinary citizens who acted with courage and compassion to save the lives of others, and we pray for the families whose loved ones were taken from them.

Never forgetting that terrible day, we remain determined to bring our enemies to justice, defy the terrorists’ ideology of hate, and work to make our world safer. We honor the members of our Armed Forces who died while taking the fight to our adversaries, and we are grateful for those who continue to protect our Nation and our way of life. Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication help preserve our freedom. We pray for their safety, for all those who love them, and for the peace we all seek.

We remain a hopeful America, inspired by the kindness and compassion of our citizens and our commitment to freedom and opportunity. During these days of prayer and remembrance, we reflect on all we have lost and take comfort in each other and in the grace and mercy of our Creator. May God guide us, give us strength and wisdom, and may He continue to bless our great country.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim Friday, September 7, through Sunday, September 9, 2007, as National Days of Prayer and Remembrance. I ask that the people of the United States and their places of worship mark these National Days of Prayer and Remembrance with memorial services, the ringing of bells, and evening candlelight remembrance vigils. I also invite the people of the world to share in these Days of Prayer and Remembrance.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this fourth day of September, in the year of our Lord two thousand seven, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-second.

GEORGE W. BUSH
