I would vote for Newt in a New York minute! He is the most intelligent of all. And he isn’t bashful about speaking his mind!

But there are three prominent left leaning candidates Romney, Guilianni, and McCain

While Giuliani is left-leaning, neither Romney nor McCain are. They're not perfect conservatives, but their records aren't left-leaning. That being said, McCain is totally whacko and I can't support him. And if you look at Romney's record you'll find that he's not as bad as some (including me at one time) have made him out to be.

I turned to Leno last night to see Fred's announcement. Literally, it put me to sleep.

He was folksy. Even with the "ums" and the "aws" that I wouldn't have expected from a professional actor, he is soothing and avuncular. Its a sort of non-threatening friendly style. That said, he didn't say anything that excited me and I'm always ready to be excited by a Republican leader. Reagan did the soothing, friendly style and still got a conservative wound up and ready to go . . .

I absolutely can’t stand Ron Paul. He is a nut case and has a huge temper. Don’t want him near the button even though he is so anti-war~~~~~~

Ums and aws don't cover it. Fred was clearing his throat constantly, which was annoying enough.

Is there an update to the fox poll which last night had RP winning the debate by a double margin?

I view McCain’s restrictions on speech as “left.” Guess you could view them as far right as easily . . . but it’s still totalitarian . . .

Did you see the 1994 clip of Romney debating Kennedy? I should have saved it in my links . . . but he talked up abortion, homosexual rights, and attacked Reagan. It was ugly and definitely left.

As for me, I wouldn’t need a doctor even though your post was not addressed to me.

This is insane. The general election is 14 months from now. If this country had even a "mole" of intelligence it would not allow any candacies until Jan 1, 2008; second, it would have a ONE day National Primary. This insane undermining of a sitting President 2 years before his term ends is ridiculous.

Which brings me to my second point. The Republican Party has outlived it's purpose and usefullnes,...it needs to be disbanded. What we need is a Conservative Party based on strong conservative values. I have NO use for people like Arlen Spector. The same RINOs and CINOs year after year.

Defeat the Democrats and the Republicans. They represent the VERY WORST this country has to offer! I hope they both self-destruct!!

Agreed, IMHO, the candidate are all PC. Afraid to pierce the skin of any of their opponents. Look at the democrats, the wives attack the Hildebeast. The men don’t have the cojones. Makes them impotent to be POTUS thankfully but that leaves the Hildebeast. She may get the dem nomination but as Rove, the magnificient BASTARD said, “She is a flawed candidate”....

Yuck. That would guarantee that no insurgent campaign ever wins. We’d always get just the big money supported front runner candidates that could run TV ads in all 50 states. A major media buy in a single state can cost millions.

I've seen it. That was 1994 and he was running for Senate against the ultimate lefty Ted Kennedy. His actual record in office did not reflect what he said back in 1994. Really, check out his actual record minus the anti-Romney spin. He did some good conservative things in office that have impressed me. And he did it with an 85% Democrat legislature. His record isn't perfect, but he's got mostly the right ideas now. Is he the most conservatve candidate in the race? No. Is he a fairly conservative frontrunner who has the money, skill, and national organization to win the Primary and the General? I think so.

If I vote today, for me, it’s a toss-up between McCain or Giuliani.

Ron Paul said that the Republican party was getting hurt in elections because it was supporting the war in Iraq. Huckabee said that even if it hurt the Republican party our national honor requires that we do the right thing and not abandon the Iraqi people once we have intervened. Principle over politics. He took Ron Paul’s “principled” argument and stood it on it’s head. Preachers go to principle over expediency very naturally . . .
