HUDSON Colorado congressman and presidential candidate Tom Tancredo declared yesterday that the United States was the last great hope for western civilization.
"I believe we are in a clash of civilizations," said Tancredo. "Terror is a tactic but not the thing we are at war with. We are at war with radical fundamentalist Islam." Tancredo made his statement during a visit to BAE Systems' facility in Hudson and told employees there that the global defense company's technological contributions are being used to defend the country.
He commended the employees for their dedication to the nation and to the troops on the frontline and stated that he had a similar dedication that inspired him to run for the presidency.
"I do this because there are a set of ideas and issues I care about and this is the place I have to go to impact them," Tancredo said.
Discussing his position as a "second-tier candidate," Tancredo said in order to get traction, he and the other second-tier candidates must perform well in New Hampshire and Iowa in order to make it to the next round of state primaries.
Luckily, candidates can campaign in New Hampshire and Iowa without expending too much money, Tancredo said.
Tancredo also had harsh criticism about the United Nations and the Unites States role in it. Describing the U.N. as a waste of time and money, he added that it has been corrupted up to the highest level and turned into "an anti-America debating society."
"We give 24 percent of the budget and receive 100 percent of the grief," Tancredo said.
During his visit to the facility, Tancredo was also briefed about BAE System's First InterComm, an interoperable communications system that could be used by first responders.
According to Mike Greene, BAE director of Homeland Security Solutions, First InterComm, ties together all the frequencies bands that first responders use. Using their existing radios, each agency would then be able to easily communicate with one another.
Tancredo also tested out thermal cameras used by the border patrol to detect potential illegal aliens trying to enter the country.
In addition to Tancredo's stop in Hudson he also held a meet-and-greet in Hollis and a town hall meeting in Merrimack.
If we do not declare war and discredit radical Islam we cannot win.
Bump!
The more I hear of Tancredo... the more I find that he’s probably the only candidate for the Republican nomination that I can stomach.
>>We are at war with Islam.<<
Bingo.
Islam has been at war with everyone since its inception 1400 some years ago.
The sooner we get on the ball and start accepting this, the sooner we can be victorious over it.
Unfortunately, I think we’re (as a nation) too far gone from a PC standpoint to let ourselves win. Out politicians kowtow at the first whiff of trouble.
> Wrong Congressman. Radical fundamentalist Islam is a
> redundant term. We are at war with Islam.
As unfortunate as this may be, it is correct.
There may be moderate Moslems, but there is NO moderate Islam.
Islam is a radical, aggressive, totalitarian political movement striving for global hegemony, disguised as a “religion”.
...and Islam is contented to wait for a winner.
we can say “radical islam” for now, but it will soon be obvious we must totally discredit islam itself for civilization to survive

Wake up, and smell the Jihad...
You are absolutely right. When will the masses in the country wake up and realize what is going on in the world?
Nation/states only play on the peripheries of this conflict as well... citizenship becomes meaningless.
this conflict could last 100 years or more, I wonder how much of the political map of the world will change in the meantime?
Not until they are kneeling before a mass grave, hands tied and a gun to their heads.
Even then they will probably scream, “Bush’s fault!” just before the muslim standing behind them pulls the trigger.
FReeper comments BUMP!
A formal declaration of war is absolutely needed in a war liek this, but here’s why we haven’t had one since the forties:
“In the 1960s, while American men and women were dying in the jungles of
Vietnam and while the military/industrial complex was sucking trillions of
dollars out of American taxpayers’ wallets, the Rockefeller dynasty was
financing Vietnamese oil refineries and aluminum plants. If there had ever
been a formal declaration of war, the Rockefellers could be tried for
treason. Instead, they reaped dividends. “

BTW Rockefeller's Standard Oil was selling oil to Spain [and hence Germany]during WWII --- and after the war this too was swept under the rug.
Mr. Obvious stating that which so few will even ponder.
