The vials contained the chemical phosgene Apparently not.
Would that affect the rest of the essay?

The new nuclear reactors will have an updesigned concrete exterior to withstand the impact of crashing airliners.

I have never doubted that Saddam had WMD. I read a great book by one of his scientists who defected. He was forced to work on building a nuclear bomb for Saddam.
I was listening to a talk radio show at the time that our troops killed Saddam’s sons and one Middle Eastern guy (pro-American) called in and said, “Thank God, we’ve finally found the WMD — Saddam’s sons. They are responsible for the death of thousands.”

Their incompetence is exceeded only by their criminality. Just ask Kofi Annan. And his crook/rapist brother.
To: RightWhale
Apparently not...Would that affect the rest of the essay? Not in my mind, the burden was on Sadaam to prove the destruction of the weapons. The fact that it wasn't phosgene, known only after long delayed testing, also goes to the competency of the inspection process.

deadly nerve gas phosgeneSince phosgene isn't a nerve gas, it is a lung irritant, are they cleverly parsing or just ignorant?
My vote is ignorant.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's ignorance.
But I'm sure some Clintonista type is fully prepared to deny that "any -- I mean ANY -- WMD" had ever been found in Iraq.
But, when possibly presented with data on phosgene, they would simply shrug and say, "Oh, phosgene. That's a lung irritant. It's not really a nerve gas, you know. I thought we were talking about nerve gas. When you say WMD, I just figured you meant nerve gas. Phosgene, sure. They had that. That's old news. Let's move on."

Phosgene is a blister agent, not a nerve agent. Small wonder.

I don’t care what it is! It sounds nasty and shouldn’t be stored in a filing cabinet at the UN.

"Ive said this from day one. The left accomplished a very important victory from the start - they framed the war as imposing a burden on the US to prove Iraq had WMDs. That was never the case. The burden was on Iraq to prove it didnt and it failed. Not finding large stockpiles was not a failure, a lie, etc..." 100% correct. The entire ordeal was always about the verification of disarmament with the onus on the Hussein regime.

and to date the GOP/Bush have not addressed this. This is a compelling argument. The whole point of the war and preemptive doctrine is to not sit and wait. If there’s a reasonable basis for suspecting a threat to the US, we have to act. Saying you have tons of X, Y, Z and then saying you have none without proving that to be so presents a threat in my view if the country saying it has used them before and been involved in terrorism and attacks agains the US.

It is nasty, and a lot of Allied troops were killed or maimed for life by the stuff in WWI.
As for the UN, I don't think they should store the UN at the UN. It is a waste of valuable real estate.

According to her article, the vilas contained PHOSGENE, not Nerve agent.
Phosgene is MUSTARD GAS.
Mustard Gas is a WMD.
Do you have a link to where they said it was what?

I have no opinion on their believability - It's an anonymous UN official that said it, so they just might stretch the truth a bit.
