Clinton Spars With Petraeus on Credibility

WASHINGTON — Senator Clinton squared off yesterday with her possible challenger for the White House in 2012, General David Petraeus, and came closer than any of her colleagues to calling the commander of the multinational forces in Iraq a liar.

Using blunter language than any other Democrat in the last two days, Mrs. Clinton told General Petraeus that his progress report on Iraq required "a willing suspension of disbelief."

Referring to the charts General Petraeus brought to the House and Senate this week, Mrs. Clinton said, "Although the charts tell part of the story, I don't think they tell the whole story." She said the "bottom-up" political reconciliation was "anecdotal" and that the success in Anbar province, where sheiks turned on Al Qaeda, started before the surge.

At the end of her speech, Mrs. Clinton pointed to what she saw as a discrepancy in the general's responses to questions from other senators about whether he would recommend that America keep 130,000 troops in Iraq a year from now if no progress was made toward national reconciliation.

"Don't you think the American people deserve a very specific answer about what is expected from our country in the face of the failure of the Iraqi government and its...

General Patraeus isn't a liar, but Hillary's hubby, Bill Clinton certainly IS. Depending upon what your definition of "is" is. Lieing under oath is called "perjury".

If I could, I’d help her with the hole she’s digging.

2012? Why? Isn’t Fred Thompson going to run for re-election?

If you parse Hillary's comments, she actually tells the truth.

"Although the charts tell part of the story, I don't think...."

Hillary! has been telling the truth for many years!

All you have to do, if you don't believe me, is read "There is Only the Fight..." which she wrote in college days. She speaks the truth, according to her inner core beliefs, in that thesis.

From the article - "The senator's reaction to the cautious optimism of America's top general in Iraq is a pivot away from the position she took last month, when she conceded that American forces had achieved some security gains in Iraq, particularly in the Anbar province. She later backed away from those remarks after coming under fire from rival presidential campaigns and anti-war Democrats."

Talk about flip flopping - wow!

Who do you trust more?

A four star General running our War against Islamofacism.

A failed, former president's wife using stolen money bundled by a Chinese guy to get herself elected to the presidency.

No brainer!

Just remember she not only voted for taking down Iraq, she stated on a Russert show that "it is the Policy of the Democratic Party".

In other words, if things went better than expected, THEY would be the heroes!!

At the same time, Bubba was wishing he were "The War President".

Clinton had a few days to think about her position on the surge and “changed her mind”. Here she is addressing the VFW Convention on August 20, 2007. Clinton really is dumber than dirt.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/08/22/rivals-criticize-clinton-for-saying-iraq-policy-working/

“White House hopeful Hillary Clinton is taking heat Tuesday from some of her Democratic rivals over recent comments suggesting the president’s surge policy in Iraq is “working.”

The remarks came during an address to the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention Monday, in which the New York Democrat said the president’s Iraq policy was leading to success in “some areas.”

“We’ve begun to change tactics in Iraq, and in some areas, particularly in Al Anbar province, it’s working,” she said. “We’re just years too late in changing our tactics.”

“We can’t ever let that happen again,” Clinton added. “We can’t be fighting the last war. We have to keep preparing to fight the new war.”

It was Hillary Clinton’s twisted, convoluted attempt at disguising vocabulary. She had listened to General David Petraeus’ report to congress for hours. He had given his assessment, based on his experiences in the field — his military successes in the Anbar Province where blood stains the desert sands west of Baghdad.

Then Hillary, sticking her tongue into the mouth of her noose, looked the general straight in the eye and told him that all he had told congress so earnestly and truthfully required a “willful suspension of disbelief.”

What arrogance to insult a 4-star general who has removed himself from his battlefield to come to Washington, D.C. to give this report! Here’s a man who has a masters degree and a PhD (1987) in international affairs from Princeton University (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1896503/posts)

What arrogance to call this man a liar — a man who bravely and valiantly leads our fighting men to the successful conclusion of the military need to be in Iraq! A man who has service records in Haiti, Kuwait and Bosnia. He has five Oak Leaf Clusters and a Bronze Star, for crying out loud!

What arrogance to insult this general and all the service personnel he represents — men and women who put their lives on the line every day.

What arrogance — that’s Hillary and her ilk. Her best pal looks like the leader of moveon.org, Eli Pariser. He’s a graduate from Simon’s Rock College and moved up the corporate ladder to become executive director of Move On.org. His claim to fame is being a web page designer and is politically connected to everything Democrat.

As an American, I can’t believe that Slick Willie’s wife even has a chance at becoming the next President of the United States. I guess this shows just how far America has fallen into the sewer. We’re done.

So, Hillery is trying to engage in a battle of wits with the general. Its a good thing that the general doesn’t fight back against an unarmed opponent.
