“For me, the guy Mitt Romney reminds me most of is John Kerry. Frankly, the man gives me the creepy-crawlies.”

I think of him as a John Edwards with a little Bill Clinton flavor.

If I was fully backing Romney, then I’d come out and say it. But I’m not, at least not right now. Check back with me after a couple of debates with Thompson present, and we’ll see who I like.

And if I’m coming off as dismissing Thompson, then I really suck at communicating. Thompson is in the race, and he has a huge backing; he’s not someone who should be dismissed out of hand. (Ron Paul is.) Thompson has a good shot at winning the nomination, and it’s hard not to consider him the front-runner right now. I’m just waiting for the debates before I form a solid opinion on him—to rank him as the 3rd most conservative candidate after he just joined the race is pretty fair, IMO.)

If Thompson comes off well in the debates, I’ll vote for him.

The war is lost because the demographics have changed. The Reagan Democrats are either dead or Republican.

About 2/3’s of the economy is based on the government. Either through direct employment or through its proxies. Unions, contractors, entitlement beneificaries, including Social Security recipients.

It’s hopeless. All we can hope for is for the kids of today to grow up and refuse to pay for it. Once bankruptcy is looming change will come but not anytime soon.

We are stuck on this boat ran by socialists for the next 30 years.

John

post2-”IMO, it’s Duncan Hunter, then Mitt Romney, then Fred Thompson”

post10-”Hunter not being listed was my point; I don’t think he’s going to win the nomination, but he’s likely the most conservative candidate.”

post12-”Yes, I’m serious. I think most people are just projecting their opinions onto Fred Thompson without really knowing what he thinks and stands for. There’s just something about Thompson that I don’t like.
Eliminate Hunter and Romney is easily the most conservative of the group.”

Your first three posts show the same pattern you have been using for 10 months.

Romney-Thompson is a dream team in my opinion!

It’s hopeless.

D00d. 40m of 120m votes... That is just the Christian right... throw in the fiscal conservatives, the Libertarians, and conservative Democrats, and the forces involved are unstoppable.

We need to throw or weight behind that effort. We need a true conservative with a real plan (Contract with America) to give coattails for other conservatives to ride into Congress. A bold move without compromise is the only thing that will take the day, and that bold move will reap rich reward.

Conservatives never win by compromise, but only when they are true to their principles. The nation expects us to clean house, to throw the RINOs out, and to kick the Rockefeller wing into the dirt. Let's give them what they want. When, and only when that occurs, that conservative groundswell will begin.

It is the compromise that leads to the hopelessness you declare.

I know that, I just wanted everyone to know what your opinion is, it helps them to read your posts more accurately.

I checked out your blog, it looks like it may be interesting, but you need to change the lettering and the coloring to make it more readable.

I would ask the guys at the blog part of FR to take a look at it and see if they can help you make it more reader friendly.

The topics looked very interesting, Fairness Doctrine, Father’s Rights and such but it needs some tweaking to make the reading easier.

His excuse wasn’t colon cancer. Better check your facts.

Also while you’re at it, why don’t you look up some of my other posts here on FR? I support Mitt in this race, but plan on voting for whomever the Republican nomination is. I just don’t want to see Rudy disappear under the guise of another excuse this time and hand another victory to Hillary.

Interestingly, while Thompson is seen as the most conservative candidate by Republican voters, the perception is a bit different among all voters. Forty-one percent (41%) of all voters see Romney as politically conservative. Thirty-eight percent (38%) see Thompson as conservative

All this means is that Thompson gives off that populist vibe that attracts Reagan Democrats/Independents even though he's speaking conservative truths. Whereas republican voters don't trust Romney so he's been going overboard trying to sound like a conservative. Many Republican voters know their real records, hence the subtle difference between them and the rest of the population.

The war is lost because the demographics have changed. The Reagan Democrats are either dead or Republican.

You're acting as though Republicans haven't held the majority in thirty years. They lost one election last year by a few thousand votes in many contests after breaking many promises that have alienated even their own base. Logically I have to reject your premise as I don't belive in space of three years the population has changed that dramatically.

The only change I do perceive is that people on all political aisles are even more angry at Government in general then they were in 2004. That spells trouble for incumbents. That may be bad for those Republicans in Senate with more seats up, but Dems in the House are another matter. That have more seats to defend there and are ripe to be picked off.

Did he also say the war on terror is not a military matter? Shouldn’t we use both avenues to keep America safe?
