- - 38 leaders of cities meet in Trenton

TRENTON -- Just two days after an AK-47 assault rifle and several other weapons were confiscated from a city teenager and a Miami-Dade County police officer was shot and killed in Florida, mayors gathered in the capital city for the U.S. Conference of Mayors leadership meeting called attention to the country's growing problem with gun violence.

what we REALLY need to ask is why is it MIAMI where these “magic ak-47”s appear? It seems just before a press opportunity one of these magically make the news.

" don’t know what the $200 rifles are. Check Shotgun News. I don’t expect much accuracy, or precision out of one of those, so I generally ignore those."

$200.00 will buy you an Curio & Relic SKS but you have to have a Federal C&R license to mail order it. BTW a euro made SKS rifle (7.62x39) is a more accurate shooter than most AK types.

"How does a private citizen mail order an AK-47 rifle?"

You call the dealer, buy it, and have it shipped to your local FFL for pick-up and paperwork.

What's really funny, in a twisted sort of way, is that after the very stringent New Jersey ugly gun ban, the liberals found something new to go after. They went after police officers who arrested and/or shot minorities and they called it racial profiling.

So, when a black man throws his car into reverse and nearly runs over a (black) state trooper, who shoots into the van because he does not want to get run over, it is racial profiling.

The stupidity of the left is limitless. If we could use their mouths to turn a driveshaft, perpetual motion would be achieved.

Not a Muslim Terrorist. Just your average, everyday teenager.

Gosh, you've got to love the Communist MSM and their lackies.

Can somebody please give me a newspaper so I can spew lies with impunity, too? I'm jealous.

"Not for $200.00"

That's the way it goes regardless of price. The local FFL usually charges ~$25 transfer fee.

If guns were taken from law abiding citizens, the criminals will not turn in their weapons.

I think that is most frightening.

what would be considered high-powered?

Isn't it more the cartridge that is "high powered" than it is the rifle?

The young urban black male market. They have violent crime propensities that are very large multiples of the next most dangerous population segment.

The cartoon is a parody, but a very good one. The dead giveaway is his name, a play on Chuckie Schumer.

The round fired by the M-16 and AK-47 (5.56mm, and 7.62X39) are considered by gunnies to be medium powered. For example, it’s not legal in most states to hunt deer with a 5.56mm rifle.

The next military round up the scale would generally be .308 basically AKA 7.62NATO. This is almost as powerful as the old 30-06, which is high powered in anybody’s book.

“This is almost as powerful as the old 30-06, which is high powered in anybody’s book.”

Actually, they’re pretty much even with a slight edge in velocity and accuracy at range to the 308. There’s a lot of empty space in a 30’06 case.

Question: I thought the AK-47 came in select fire semi-auto and full-auto only. Is there a AK-47 model that’s semi-auto only?

There aren’t any semi-auto AK-47s that I’m aware of. There ARE semi-auto copies like the WASR. Perhaps it is a narrow distinction.

You know that, I know that, but the way it came across to the media, a citizen can mail order and receive an AK-47 rifle from a factory.

That's right. They're out to con the public, so they'll be using lies and 1/8 truths as tools. The '94 ban itself only made flash suppressors and bayonet lugs illegal. THey're not going to tell that truth, because their goal is to demonize gun owners as closet terrorists. The turd that went on this rampage dumped his rifle early on, in preference for the 9mm he had.

If the low life clowns had any honor, they'd be IDing the real failures that allowed this guy to even be in the US. He was an llegal, that jumped bond from a prior arrest in '92 for armed violence. He never should have been out on bond, and should have been deported after the case was over. They'd also be going after those that have given probable cause that they're involved in criminal activity-like breakiing the gun laws they have on the books.
