“...since he declared his candidacy.”

Well at least he declared “something”, perhaps solid positions will soon follow. I did appreciate that he took the time to/and appeared firm on reminding us that he isn’t Ronald Reagan, just in case anyone was under that impression, ya know....

I’m of the belief that a VP candidate can’t help you but they can hurt you. Duncan Hunter won’t hurt Fred. He doesn’t seem to have any skeletons in his closet. He is solid with the conservative base. He is not prone to making sound bites that come back to bite him in the azz(see Ron Paul for those).

In addition Hunter is from California, not that I believe we have a prayer in hell of carrying CA but it sure couldn’t hurt.

I know better than to fall in love with a Politician. They all suck on some level and will disappoint you if you think they are going to act the way you want them to in every situation.

But I will say this for Tommy Gun. I feel WAAAAY better about his Conservative credentials than I EVER DID about Baby Bush, who I know was a New World Order moderate.

The only thing Baby Bush surprised me with that was more conservative than expected was when Ashcroft wrote a letter stating that gun ownership was an individual right.

Other than that, he has been a New World Order moderate right down the line, being a bit right of center here and a bit left of center there.

He only seems conservative compared iwth the Dems and the MSM.

I look at that poll and I feel sorry for Sam Brownback. McCain doesn’t deserve to be ahead of anybody.

Is it too soon to say FR is Thompson/Hunter country?

Not too soon for me.

Thompson/Hunter or Hunter/Thompson. Something about Hunter reminds me of Dick Cheney, maybe his direct square in the eyes approach. Someone people might not see as Mr. Congeniality, which is just fine since it isn't a beauty pageant, but serious business.

Something about Hunter reminds me of Dick Cheney

..interesting observation

I always likened his concise, military-rich dialect that he speaks to Ike...

With all due respect to you, Mr. Robinson, I would say that Free Republic has become Fred Republic.

There doesn’t seem to be much room or tolerance for anyone but FT supporters here.

So be it.

Thank goodness there are good many discerning Republicans in the country who are not impressed with TV stars enough to turn the country over to one without checking his record.

Fred's record and positions on the complex issues of our day does not take long at all to research in depth.
