FRed Republic... sounds good to this conservative. Its a whole lot better than backing liberals, centrists and moderates
You have clearly not looked at Fred Thompson's record.
He voted with a block of liberal Senators by the name of Snowe, Collins, McCain, Specter, Chaffee...
You know you are moderate when you serve with Bill Frist and Frist's voting record is more Conservative.
Don't be emotional, just look at the facts. Thompson's records is clear, anemic, but clear.

So now I guess we have to add Fred Barnes to the “No Longer a Conservative Because He’s Not A FredHead” list?

” But...I also like Mitt. I think he did an outstanding job as Gov. of MA; as well as could be expected for a Conservative governing the most liberal state in the nation.”
Can you explain how a true conservative could ever be elected Governor of the most liberal state in the nation?

What do you want to bet that Fred will mysteriously have a scheduling conflict when the next debate rolls around and he cant make it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he does. He has an aversion for debates.

I don’t understand why folks like him, I’m shocked at the freeper support for him honestly, he is not a good choice.

Do you hear yourselves talk? You guys are so emotional about Fred Thompson it isn’t funny!
It’s like listening to a bunch of little junior high girls going gaga over some rock star.

excuse me — I live in California. California is also one of the most liberal states in the union.
Wasn’t Ronald Reagan the two-term governor of California before he was the GOP nominee for president?
Your argument doesn’t even hold one drop of water.

>>>>>You have clearly not looked at Fred Thompson's record. Don't be emotional, just look at the facts. Yes I have. In my book, Fred`s a conservative. Those are the facts. After four decades of political engagement, I know what defines a conservative.
If Fred wasn't a solid conservative he wouldn't be getting such high grades from like minded rightwing groups. Fred`s lifetime ACU rating is 86. Thats damn good. A whole lot higher than the ratings for Snowe, Collins, Specter and Chaffee. McCain has an 82 ACU lifetime rating. Not bad. Problem with McCain is, he is strongly disliked by many conservatives on several key issues.
Fred`s got what it takes to beat both top tier liberal candidates running in 2008. He'll take down Rooty and Hillary.

What boggles my mind is how the good people of Tennessee could fill the same Senate seat one year with Al Gore and the very next with Fred Thompson. Because the Gore family is very strong in Tennessee..
Not enough to make him President, though. Remember, Thompson didn't seek reelection.

Quit being disingenuous!
You know perfectly well that he could not have skipped that debate because he had not declared yet.
If you don’t like the guy fine, but at least be honest in your approach and in what you have to say about him.
To: bethtopaz
Sorry Skippy but California wasn’t nothing close to as liberal as it is now when President Reagan was Governor there.
Mitt was elected when Mass was just as liberal as it is today. In fact they got queer marriage while he was Governor!
Nice try though.

” Wesley Clark was very popular as well when he first announced, until people found out he had a big bag of nothing.”
The difference is ? FRED is not Wesley Clark, and Fred is a grown up adult.
RIGHT! Also Ashley Wilkes was a dim, personally I didn’t give two hoots in hell about who was “popular” over at the dim funny farm. Did you?

No, however, his total and complete support for Open Borders and I believe his support of Rudy really puts a question mark next to the idea that he is a conservative.

I think you might be overstating it. Robinson supports Thompson, and so do a lot of other Freepers. Frankly, I would support him if I thought he could beat Hillary. But as it is, I think that Rudy has the best chance of beating Hillary. Despite my opinion, which I've stated many times, there has been no official intolerance against me. Just a lot of Fredheads who bash me without thinking because they can't seem to deal with the reality of what we're facing in this next election. If Hillary is President, it will be another 50 years before we have a fair election in this country. And you can kiss capitalism goodbye.

Think. Reagan was president in the 80's--20 years ago. Things are just a tad different.

Here's the sticky part of your post. You're just a tad bit arrogant. That could be the reason you get "bashed."
