The Hill maintains a running tally of the race for lawmaker support based on extensive research and daily contact with campaigns. The list reflects publicly committed backers of 2008 presidential hopefuls rather than members' private leanings or inclinations.
Wow, these vote totals are very impressive considering there will be over 100 million votes in the general election.
What a waste of time...
You think endorsements have no effect?
As for whether these endorsements will help with raising funds, it probably will.
I can tell you it won’t do Hillary any good with me. John McCain shouldn’t relish these numbers. Romney will be kidding himself if he thinks this is going to change my opinion of him one iota.
Not all the television adds that money can buy will convince me to vote for Hillary, Romney, McCain or others I just don’t care for.
Will it help? I suppose, but I’m not convinced it’s all that important in the overall scheme of things.
So... the people with the Approval Ratings in the “teens” are supporting Clinton and Romney... A good indication of who NOT to vote for, I’d say.
Did you look at the list? Are those supporting Romney all RINOs?
(my question to you [and others] are questions of interest, not attacks. I’m interested in people’s opinions and have none on this myself)
Collectively Congress has such a rating, but it would be interesting to cross reference this list with each individual’s approval rating.
That makes sense, thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome, but don’t think mine is the end all be all of comments on this. Others will disagree, and ought to if that’s their opinion.
You take care.
Based on the performance of the Republican legislators under President Bush I would have to say a majority are RINOs. They spent our money like drunken sailors, refused to deal with illegal immigration, collaborated with Demoncrats over and over again etc. etc. etc.
Average lifetime American Conservative Union (ACU) rating of the members of Congress supporting each candidate:
Thompson - 92.4
Brownback - 91.2
Hunter - 88.5
Romney - 88.5
Huckabee - 85.3
Giuliani - 81.2
McCain - 80.0

I'm glad Mitt promptly threw him under the bus and wish the rest of the GOP would do the same.
Wow, Hunter and Romney tied, that’s a surprise.
Actually it was the way Mitt threw Craig and Ann Coulter under the bus that gave me pause and ultimately caused me to change my support to Thompson.
There were far better ways to handle the Craig and Coulter situations , but unfortunately it looks like political expediency took precedence over any semblance of compassion or loyalty .
Remember , Craig and Coulter were solid early backers of Romney, and we see just how much he truly appreciated it .
Interesting. So, it bothered you more that the admitted toe-tapper resigned from the Romney campaign than it bothered you that Thompson fired Tom Collamore, Spencer Abraham, Jim Mills and Mark Collaro, who are all good friends of conservatives?
Well Coulter never worked for Romney , but he threw her under the bus, just the same, over the Edwards comment . Romney piled on , it was excessive and uncalled for .
With Craig, he simply could have said it was a regrettable incident and that he would pray for Craig or something to that extent . Again he instantly lashed out at Craig in a way that was a bit shocking .
There are professional ways to handle these types of situations, unfortunately they were handled in a way that was quite disappointing .
