2 Howell boys accused of forcing classmate to have sex on bus

Lansing State Journal

Special to the State Journal

HOWELL - Two Howell elementary school boys - ages 9 and 11 - have been charged as juveniles with criminal sexual conduct for allegedly making a 7-year-old boy perform oral sex while on a school bus in May.

The father of the 11-year-old boy, however, said his son merely witnessed the attacks and was himself a victim of a similar attempted sexual assault by the 9-year-old. He questioned the safety of students on Howell buses

"We take it for granted our children are safe," the 38-year-old father said. "We're worried about predators coming up to the bus stop, not being on the bus. How can you think our children are safe? The school should be accountable for what happens on the bus."

Although the events reportedly happened at the end of the school year, Superintendent Chuck Breiner said he just learned of the alleged sexual assaults on Monday when the 11-year-old boy's father called him to ask why his son was questioned by the school principal and a police officer without his knowledge.

Police reports indicate that the 7-year-old reported that on several occasions he was forced to perform a sex act on the 9-year-old boy. The incidents are alleged to have taken place toward the end of the after-school bus route when there were few students on the bus.

School buses have cameras but a video tape is inconclusive, said Breiner.

Juvenile court records indicate the 9- and 11-year-old boys are each charged with first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

If convicted as charged, both boys also would have to register as sex offenders for life.

I know where your coming from - I was a preacher at the time of all this - It didn’t dent my faith but sure did try my sanity.

Good for you. That’s a message one day the public schools will have to pay attention to.

What the heck is Michigan coming to ping

I hope that all of the adults involved in the upbringing of the accused boys are being scrutinized. This strikes me as learned behavior, not that that makes it okay.

Guess what? This kind of stuff also happens in church schools and has been for years..........I should know because it was happening in my Catholic elementary school when I attended, and I graduated 8th grade in 1974.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Ah,,,,so are you admitting that homeschooling is the safest and healthiest way to raise a child?

It is a shame.

Some children will need to be institutionalized for their education. Their families are simply too disadvantaged or too dysfunctional. We also need orphanages for children in dysfunctional, missing, or disadvantaged families, but no one is claiming that it is a normal or healthy way to raise a child.

This is not the forum for it, but getting roughed up for my 75 cents every day was nothing compared to what the teachers did.

Softballmon,

I am truly sorry that your childhood was so abusive. I have read your posts regarding your father, and now have read that you were abused at school as well.

Is that the incident rate? Wow.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Yes, 17,000 children are admitted to emergency rooms for school bus injuries. EVERY year children are dragged or crushed to death by school buses. Probably ALL of the deaths and the rate of injuries reduced if their was adult supervision on the BACK of the bus and while crossing the street.

But,,,,hey! Improving school bus safety would mean less money for the teacher´s paycheck and fat pensions.

So....if 17,000 kids are admitted to the emergency room, can you imagine the injury and abuse that never gets reported?

Honestly, I think any parent that would allow their child to ride a school bus is either desperate or hopelessly naive.

As I have said over and over, no one method of education, religion, or lifestyle is pure and above reproach. If one condemns one method because of the mistakes of the minority, then it becomes fair game to do the same to another method because of the mistakes of their minority.

The facts is that our culture is corrupt. Evil surrounds us because Satan wants to lead everyone to follow his damnation. People search for truth and refuse the truth and embrace something that feels good that moment. These boys committed this act on a public school bus, but they did not learn it is okay to committ fellatio on another nor to force it from the schools. They learned it from their culture and the environment their parents allowed them to steep in. There may be an immediate answer to bus problems, in terms of requiring 1 or even 2 assistants but that doesn't address the heart of corruption. A parent can home school or private school(and in some cases they SHOULD) but that doesn't address the corruption of our society.

I have to respect Patrick Henry College in Virginia. Their mission is to place Christians into the public service arena. Many of their kids were schooled in an alternative method. PHC's goal is to eventually have enough of their graduates to affect policy and make a change. I admire that. That is proactive and begins to address the problem. I graduated from Bob Jones University, another Christian institution. I see my work in public schools as a reason to be an up-standing person of character who is there to make a difference. Others pooh pooh it, but let 'em. If I believe that I am doing God's work, then others that mock me are of no importance and just don't register on my radar screen.

These boys committed an evil, EVIL act and while they should be punished, I hope that someone close to them is able to show them another path - one that eventually leads to decency rather than an orange prison suit.

Kids used to be, and even now should be allowed to be, asexual till puberty.

@@@@@@

One of the saddest things happening to our kids today is the theivery of their innocence. Just as children develop through crawling, walking, talking stages, so do they progress through bonding with parents, then with peer groups, before they begin to be attracted to opposite sex relationships.

The elementary school years are meant to be years of asexual friendship, as you said, but kids are getting so many sexual messages, that they are almost being forced to jump to the boyfriend/girlfriend/or any other sexual combination too early in their lives. Some of these children are going to confuse their natural affection for their same-sex pals with ‘romantic’ feelings. This, I believe, is part of the plan of those adults who want to weaken traditional society, and strengthen the force of “alternative” lifestyles.

It is very destructive to a healthy society.

So, you are saying a person doesn’t know if they are hetero or homo until puberty??

Umm yes. Why would they feel sexual attraction to anything before puberty? Also, is the sarcasm necessary?

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

So the little darlings can do it at home instead of the bus.

Unless the parents are abusive something like this should never happen in a homeschooling situation because the parents are there to supervise and the children are not exposed to all of the negative influences from their peers at school and the politically correct school curiculum.

Somethin' here doesn't add up...
The father of the 11-year-old boy, however, said his son merely witnessed the attacks and was himself a victim of a similar attempted sexual assault by the 9-year-old. He questioned the safety of students on Howell buses... Although the events reportedly happened at the end of the school year, Superintendent Chuck Breiner said he just learned of the alleged sexual assaults on Monday when the 11-year-old boy's father called him to ask why his son was questioned by the school principal and a police officer without his knowledge.

Gee, maybe they should start teaching about SEX in pre school! I’m being sarcastic. The MORE you throw this stuff in their face - the more they will try it!

As I have said over and over, no one method of education, religion, or lifestyle is pure and above reproach.

Jesus said "I am THE way, the truth and the life: no man goeth to the Father, but by me."

Unless you are going to convince the Christ of sin, there is one right religion, and one right way, according to the one by whom all things were created. But I suppose you know more than the one who created you?

Christ is perfect, but His followers are not. We are all steeped in sin and some of His followers succumb to temptation quicker than others don't they?

I've been educated by and lived with those that praise Jesus on Sunday and follow Satan Monday through Saturday. Don't even go there with me. You have no idea what abuse I endured at the hands of Christians. It is only by God's grace and love that I fight the temptation of hate every day of my life.
