Just One Example of Dick Morris Being Wrong About Fred Thompson
Blogs For Fred Thompson ^ | September 22, 2007 | brkcmo

As we have pointed out in recent posts, and as is plain to see for anyone who wants to see it, Dick Morris certainly appears to be carrying out an agenda to try and destroy Fred Thompson. Whether that agenda is because Fred has not asked him to join the campaign, or because Morris is working in behalf of some other Fred rival, is not clear.

But I just want to take this week of campaign activity of the part of Fred Thompson as a case in point to prove just how much you should question the things Dick Morris says about Fred. . . . .

Dick Morris is a dirtbag, but his motives here are clear. He’s obsessed with beating Hillary and he thinks Rudy is the only chance to beat her.

He’s wrong, but that’s where he’s coming from.

Dicky boy has had many episodes of sucking up to bill, hillary, Bush, and others, since he was given the boot.

Yes, I agree that hillary hates him. He was largely responsible for “triangulation,” which gave the clintons the power they wanted, but they have never been people who showed gratitude.

He has sucked up to hillary from time to time since then, probably hoping she would repent and hire him back. Then when it didn’t work he’d try sucking up to someone else. Bush has no time for him because Morris betrayed the Republicans he had earlier worked for and helped defeat his father.

But it’s something of a break in the pattern to see Morris attacking someone rather than sucking up. Somebody must have asked him to do it, or maybe he thinks he’s helping someone and can call in the favor. Rudy? Mitt? Hillary? Who knows what this guy is thinking?

On the last election he was on Fox “Oh Hillary’s going to run!” Of course she didn’t. It’s going to be Rudy+Thompson. That’s the winning combo.

I believe that elections are won or lost more on Gestalt and emotion than on objectivity. That said, I think this election will be about change, perceived or real. The left has done a despicable but effective job labeling Bush as unintelligent. They have successfully ‘Dan Quayled’ him, although not to the same extent. At the same time the myth/persona of Bill Clinton as a well-intentioned rogue with some human failings but with exceptional intelligence and grasp of the issues has been perpetuated. He has been resurrected, much as Carter’s public persona was rebuilt.

Make no mistake, Hillary’s appeal to a significant number of people is Bill. So the table is set for the ‘smart’ and compassionate people to take back over the country. That’s exactly how this will be played. Yes, the reality is much, much, much different, but unfortunately perception is reality to a large extent in politics. So what does this have to do with Fred? Well, I absolutely think Fred is a very bright and well-intentioned guy who would be an outstanding President. That said, if the left is able to paint him as a lumbering not-so-bright right wing ideologue who doesn’t really have a grasp of the issues, they will also be able to link his candidacy to Bush and ‘more of the same’. If he is to win he can’t let that happen. Regarding Morris, I agree that he’s wrong at least as often as he is right, but I do believe that he can’t stand Hillary and I think his comments on Fred reflect his own angst. Just my opinion. For the record, I will support Fred wholeheartedly if he is the candidate, although I haven’t decided who to vote for in the primaries yet.

All east coast and beltway folk belive that only they matter so the rest of the country can go "suck an egg" as the farmers used to say.

Notice that they only include the "top tier" (read, the only people who matter in the race to us, so the others might just as well go home) in discussions and long interviews for national exposure.

Whatever the fascination with Rudy that these folk have is beyond me. He represents absolutely NONE of MY values, save tough on terrorists but he has yet to prove anything beyond his "Tough Words" and quite frankly, he could only be elected in NYC for Mayor, nothing else!

"Dick Morris certainly appears to be carrying out an agenda to try and destroy Fred Thompson. Whether that agenda is because Fred has not asked him to join the campaign, or because Morris is working in behalf of some other Fred rival, is not clear."

Dick Morris works on behalf of Dick Morris, the persons and the means are incidental to that purpose.

I suspect the Fred people will be fighting a lot of straw men like Dick Morris and Michael Moore while deflecting the serious challenges. This way they can portray all challenges against their guy as being in league with the straw man nemesis.

Dick Morris is hardly ever right about anything. I don’t remember what attack I read by him about Fred Thompson a short while after Thompson announced but it made me feel good because Dick Morris is almost always wrong, especially when it comes to predicting things.

I agree with almost everything you said. I also will vote for and work hard to get Fred elected if he gets the nod. However I don’t think he can go up against the Clinton machine. They will paint him as a dumb, slow, hick and he is not passionate about anything. We have a big problem here. I do not fully support anyone now running. I thought Newt was the answer but he is trying too hard to get along with the Libs. I don’t know if we can win this thing with the crew we have running.

I’m with you. I think we all need to really think hard about what this election really means. The Clintons are very adept deceivers, and the moderation we’ve all been hearing from Hillary is absolute deception. Preventing the Clintons from regaining the reigns of power is essential to the health of this Republic. I really believe that. Whereas I also believe that America is exceptionally strong and can weather most of what is thrown at her, I also pragmatically believe that elections have significant consequences and this one could change the course of American history in a negative way for decades.

That said, we need to win, even if the person who wins is not our ideal candidate. I’m not saying we should give up our ideals, or sweep them under the rug, but we need to think of this with a longer term game plan. During this primary season we should be trying to determine what the winning ticket is, irrespective of whether or not it is our ideal ticket.

Yes, I agree with you again, however some people I am reading on this thread will stay home if thier boy does not get in. They will take their ball and go home and we will have to see Hillary on TV for the next 4 to 8 years. Not to mention the great harm she will do our country and children.

Yep, they are just setting themselves up to look like fools with this.

This will only happen if Rudy is the candidate.

I know that I will not vote for somebody who will destroy the Republican Party and their chances for the next several generations and that is exactly what Rudy will do if he is the nominee. He is wrong on all issues except the WOT. I know this is fine for some of you one-issue folks, but for anyone who is a conservative, this will not do.
