What cops want you to know

If you are a police officer, trooper, court officer, correction officer, telecommunicator, highway patrol, federal agent, or any other type of police (peace) officer either full-time, part-time or retired that has been disrespected or insulted by another police agency (officer) by not receiving some sort of professional courtesy, please email staff (at) copswritingcops.com with the information. If you have been arrested for a crime and want to use this as a podium to rant, go somewhere else.

This is a site for officers getting traffic tickets that ANY normal civilian could get a warning on, verbal or written. This is a site for cops, about cops, and designed by cops. Needless to say, we are fed up with hearing about this and think something should be done. There's always another ticket down the street. We are all family and maybe someday you may need one of us to get out of our car and save your sorry ass. But odds are you're the cop that doesn't do anything to begin with.

Our Mission

The new police generation is here and the "old timers" need to pass on the respect for the police. It goes without saying that the public needs to respect us, but we must also respect each other. We have the career that no one wants, unless it's on TV. We have to deal with...well...how do we say it politically...the shitheads! These are people that no one else wants to deal with, that's why they call us. We are 'suppose' to come and solve the problems. Of course most of the problems are social or political issues and no officer is going to be able solve them in one call, or even 60 minutes like on TV. So what does this have to do with this site. A LOT!! All we have sometimes is each other.

Our mission is to try and bond our community by bringing the stories of how our brothers and sisters are sometimes mistreated by other brothers and sisters.

Maybe after visiting this site and reading how much it really does affect other officers, you may think twice about giving that ticket.

It's ONLY A TICKET! We're positive that there is someone more deserving of your attention than your own brother or sister.

FAQ's

Are we above the law?
No.

If we commit a crime, should we be "let go"?
No. We need to go to jail. The public has faith in us (supposedly). If we break that faith we need to pay the price. One of our staffers is an IAD Sergeant. He has many stories of how cops try and "get by with one". He is a strong proponent of this site.

Should we be given breaks on tickets that normal people would be given a break?
Yes. Best Buy employees get an employee price (which is awesome), Subway employees get free subs, military people get free hops on planes, airline employees get the jet around the world for free ($50 is free). Every profession gets some kind of 'perk'.

Is it fair?
No, but when is life ever fair.

This is a website created by law enforcement officers for the purpose of lambasting other LEOs who do not render them "professional courtesy". In police parlance, "professional courtesy" means "letting a cop get away with a traffic law violation". The website has a special area called "Dicks Of The Month" in which cops who refuse to let other cops get away with traffic violations are subjected to particular scorn.

Anyone who still refuses to believe that there are substantial numbers of corrupt policemen, sheriffs, deputies, and other "crimebusters" out there need only read the site to learn otherwise. The existence of copswritingcops.com is more evidence that, generally speaking, cops demand one standard of justice for themselves, and a second for everybody else. (Note the repeated use of the term "civilians" to refer to citizens who are not members of the law enforcement "family".) Even though the unequal treatment involves only violations of traffic laws, the existence of even the smallest double standard of justice is incompatible with the existence of a society where the law applies to all citizens equally. Copswritingcops.com shows that, to corrupt law enforcement officers, those citizens on the cop side of the Thin Blue Line are more equal than others.

It’s not just the cops themselves, I know wives who have had tickets fixed.

If I ever catch them in a recent incident, then I’m going to quietly tip people off about it - starting with the chief, town officials, state officials, the media, or whomever.

Right now I have their trust, the crooked fools... I’m just waiting for “a story”.

“Cop courtesies” often extend to fire men, paramedics, politicians and relatives of cops. I have a cop in my family and have been on the receiving end of a courtesy. There’s nothing right about it but ask yourself, would I turn it down or would I insist that the cop write me a ticket?

If you say you’d rather get the ticket, you are straighter than I am.

Love the idea of “police”, but every time they have been involved in anyway shape or form it hasn’t been a good thing. Wish it wasn’t so but I would rather not involve the police in anything. Not to be hating just a personal observation maybe it has been different for you.

It’s not just about the ticket. They’re seriously going to kill someone by speeding, and they sometimes do.

There was a fireman around here couple years ago, he killed a motorist who was stopped in heavy rain. Granted rain may have been a factor, but there is no question the guy was speeding and would NOT have hit the guy if he wasn’t.

The rain was a lucky excuse that got him off the hook.

You couldn't PAY me 50 bucks to take a MAC flight around the world on a C 130.. Hardly a perk

The site may be real.
But parts of it sound like they could have been written by Jay Santos
of the Citizens Auxiliary Patrol.

Can you name any time anyone has ever called the police because something good was happening?

I've been in over 10 years, and my only "free hops" have been missions and rides to the desert.

Mostly NY and NJ boys who trash Rednecks, and expect country cops to overlook it.

I’m ex-LEO and I never intentionally gave another officer or military any traffic citation but I didn’t advertise the fact… (until now – ooops).

Why blatantly post something like this in public? Cops have a bad enough rap as it is because of traffic enforcement. We all know how LE is resented for what the citizen considers revenue generating citations and so called “speed traps”. Why add insult to injury and further tarnish LE integrity by posting this in a place where non-LEO can read?

Please don’t misunderstand - I’m not against cutting fellow cops and military a break – I’m just against advertising the policy/practice.

Actually, it's kind of funny. I mean, the speeding cops are acting exactly like the motorists they ticket all the time. Once the other cop won't give them a break, instead of being sharp enough to just say to themselves, "Well, it was worth a try", they actually get pissed off and truly believe the other cop is a jerk cause he didn't give them a break. And the reason they know the guy's a jerk is because they're such jerks themselves when they give tickets. My favorite is when they tell the other cop their a cop, too. And the guy answers, "Well, then you should know better". Hee hee hee.

Awww. come on! The ear plugs are free!

They are pretty fast and loose with the term “civilian”, too.
