So cops that let Mr. citizen off for speeding is corrupt? It’s called officer’s discretion. During the 11 years I was in LE I let numerous people off with just a warning and yes that did include a handful of cops. OH HEAVENS!!! I WAS A CORRUPT COP!!

The Internet is not a secret...

One of their own is dressing them down right now.

Let the rationalizing begin.

Any cop stupid enough to post his ‘complaint’ on that site genuinely deserves his ticket - and a few days administrative leave.

“Can you name any time anyone has ever called the police because something good was happening?”

Yeah but that is the job the CHOOSE. It does not entitle them to be above the law or get any special treatment a regular citizen would not get.

If they don’t like their jobs they should get out.

I agree - you’d have to be crazy to post to this board. But to give anyone — anyone — ‘a pass’ is a sign of corruption when it comes to the law.

It’s not a ‘suggested speed limit’, is it?

And to expect a pass is IMHO a sign of even worse corruption.

I didn’t turn it down...
(A Cop once gave a military member an undeserved “courtesy”)

But I did my very best to make certain I never put a civilian cop in that position, ever again.
And over the many years since, even after I became a civilian again,I have remained unticketed, due to the professional courtesy I extend towards cops.

Namely, I don’t break laws cops are supposed to enforce.

You’re right. Expecting a pass is arrogant if not corrupt.

Being respectful and courteous goes a long way in determining the outcome regardless of who’s behind the wheel. I wrote a ticket to a loud mouthed Denver cop and 2 tickets to his punk kid because they both thought that I was obligated to give them a break. Attitude is everything.

I personally knew a Federal LEO who kept his drivers license in his Badge/ID case. That way when a cop asked for his license he could show his badge without it being too obvious.

He told me he got stopped by a Georgia Highway Patrolman. Didn’t do him any good. The cop just told him to remove the license from that holder.

Police officers and firemen have been involed in accidents and have had their case decided by a jury. If you were on that jury would you consider a perfect driving record for a policeman less important than any other driver involed in the accident?

“Cop courtesies” are also extended to civilians, as well as LE.

Frankly, I would be satisfied if they would just do their job and solve some crimes. I’ve seen so much incompetence it makes the Keystone Cops look like Sherlock Holmes.

I got charged a fee for my “free hops”!

Those C140s were going “there” anyway, so I just assumed my ten bucks went to their squadron snack bar fund.

Are you telling me I could have flown first class on a real airline with real seats and drinks, for free, except for the ten bucks?
And I did not have to wait days burning vacation time for first available space?

LOL!
Full disclosure-I planned my hops with insider flight schedule information....

Next time a nut goes into a school with a gun, I’d like to see more cops charging in with weapons drawn, less time spent “establishing a secure perimeter”.

I recently got pulled over for stupidity in a construction zone and after compliance and confession I asked how a buddy was doing who works out of the same station.

After a brief check I went on my way with a warning.

.

Citation should depend on the situation according to the arresting officers judgement at his discretion at the time. Not controlled by some website pressure group.

Denver cops are way up there on the corruption list. Or so I’ve been told by 2 retired Denver cops and anybody who’s lived there.
