Iran Does Far Worse Than Ignore Gays, Critics Say
Fox News ^ | September 25, 2007 | Fox News

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's seemingly ridiculous claim that "we don't have homosexuals, like in your country" masks the cruel reality that his government does far worse than ignore gays, human rights groups charge.

"There are criminal laws on the books in Iran that allows for people to be killed for being homosexual," said Paula Ettelbrick, executive director of the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission.

Just how many gays may have been killed — some say the figure is more than 400 — is impossible to determine. Routine harassment and systematic torture of gays in Iran is quite common, charge human rights groups.

Iranian gays who try to operate in these circles do so at great peril. In one case widely covered by Western news agencies, Iran allegedly executed in July, 2005, an 18-year-old man and a minor for the "crime" of homosexuality.

~snip~

According to Iranian law, consensual gay sex in any form is punishable by death. Violators are reportedly given a choice of four methods of execution: hanging, stoning, halving by sword — or being dropped from the highest perch.

Barberic, but unsurprising.

Regardless of my fellow freeper’s opinions of homosexuals, I think everyone can agree with me that no one deserves to be executed or tortuted for such a thing.

I was wondering how long before this POV was going to be brought up.

Halving by sword? Gays don’t even merit getting their head chopped off they only get cut in half?

Sick bastards over there.

Demanding special “rights” for their deviant behaviour is what bothers me.

You won’t see me demanding special status for grumpy old men ever.

I've heard and read that before they marry, men have sex with little boys, so as not to sully those women who must remain virgins until marriage.

What do you call that kind of behavior, if not gay? Or is it okay as long as it's NOT consenting adults? Presumably very young boys are not capable of giving consent?

I did not hear Amadintheheads comments. I read them.
And it gave me a chill what monsters run the Iranian regime. Like I needed a reminder.

Hopefully this event will wake some up to what we face, and what it means that these murdering whack jobs could have a nuclear weapon soon.

hmm consinstantly talking smack on jews, persecuting homosexuals, provokes the international community, and claims not to be instigating a regional war. Is it just me or does this almahnut-job sound almost identical to hitler..excluding the fact that Hitler took his country from a depression state to one of the most dominant powers at its time.

I guess Ahmanutjob just missed scoring a grand slam with the lefties with his remarks about homosexuals. Had he not made that remark he would be their new idol soon to be on t-shirts, coffee cups, caps, tattoos, birkenstocks......oh well.

I'm certainly with you here.

I'm of the opinion that homosexuals should have client autonomy. That is, if homosexuals want help leaving the lifestyle then they should have that opportunity.

“I guess Ahmanutjob just missed scoring a grand slam with the lefties with his remarks about homosexuals.”

I am sure that the left will find some way in the next few days to spin those comments away an embrace his message of peace & love. LOL! It occured to me that while he and his ilk would love to kill all Americans, consevatives would likely be behind liberals on the killing line. LOL

Mahmoud may think there aren’t any homosexuals in Iran because he killed them all.

It’s depressing to think that condemnation from the left of Iran may come about because of the Iranian governments positiojn on gays.

When I first heard & saw this I thought perhaps the translator misquoted him since it sounded too ridiculous to have been said as one can be opposed to homosexuality but to deny the fact that it exists there was absurd.

More homosexuals are dying tortured, cruel deaths because of AIDS and other complications of their behavior than are being executed in Iran.

No, he knows this because he is not in Iran right now.

I agree.

I find it sad that the audience applauded his remarks about (Bush's) wiretapping and laughed at his no-gays-in-Iran statement.
It all fits with Jay-Walking phenomena and lower academic scores after completing 4 years in ivy league schools, and a conflicted, agenda-driven media.
