Fred Thompson is within four points of Rudy Giuliani in the latest AP-Ipsos National Poll concluded October 3. Giuliani leads 27%-23%, a five point improvement for Fred from last month when he garnered 18% of those polled. Here are the numbers:
27% Rudy Giuliani
23% Fred Thompson
13% John McCain
11% Mitt Romney
7% Mike Huckabee
To casual eyes even the mention they agree on anything doesn’t help Fred. I’d say the same if you had mixed Mitt or even Rudy in the regard.
Just don’t compare the two, even on issues they may agree on.
On a Thompson thread too, for crying out loud. It's as if all of his other conservative stands should be dismissed just because his foreign policy stinks
I'll say one thing though. Paul would still be a better Commander-in-Chief than all of the Democrats.
Big deal. And just who made the biggeest blunders in the ME? the Democrats.
What's going on in the ME ISN'T our fault. It's Islamic fundamentalism on the rise, and it has to be slapped down. It isn't going to go away if we sit here with our heads in the sand.
So yes, Iraq IS a very important cornerstone, and if we fail, it's going to cost us dearly. It may even be FATAL to western society as we know it.
But I'm sure you'll be just as happy raising your anus to allah as you are to ron paul.
Ron Paul is #3 or #4 to me of available Republicans. Seriously your ad hominem attacks make you look stupid and ignorant. Iraq isn’t nearly as important as you think and its not nearly as unimportant as Ron Paul thinks. Both of you are kooks about one thing or the other. Irregardless overall RP is still more conservative than 80% of Republicans in elected office.
He advocates a closed society. Tariffs, duty, closed borders, etc. He can't get it thru his head we live in a global society. A closed society worked so well for the soviets, didn't it.
Dude, he just raised $5 million dollars for the 3Q, $1.2 million of that coming in the last week of the quarter. Neo-Nazis and Code Pink kooks ain't got that much money, so it's obvious he is receiving support from somewhere.
My cat would be a better CIC than any of the dems...
Marxism advocates a one world gov’t. And most conservatives supports a closed border and tariffs of some sort (and no more than any other major candidate). But nice try.
The only one “stupid and ignorant” here is you.
And if you can’t see the importance of Iraq, well that just shows how ‘unedukated’ you are.
Rp is a moonbat, plain and simple. But, you have a right to run around and wave a banner for him if you want to, stay up 36 hours at a time posting on polls to boost them up till you pass out from lack of nourishment.
America always needs someone to laugh at.
“I do not think I would seek a return of the money ,even if it were available , this helps keep up my righteous indignation .”
He’s probably already spent your money anyway.
Good for you!
I never said Iraq wasn’t important but it is not a litmus test for being conservative and isn’t as important as YOU think it is. I am not waving any RP banner. I 100% advocate voting for Duncan Hunter. But you keep up your own moonbat ways.
RP is a UN fan as well.
And no, most conservative do not support a closed border of some sort.
keep pulling more unsubstantiated statements out of your ass.
It was Republicans who brought us free trade agreements, NAFTA, (with Brian Mulroony on the Canadian side - a conservative) democrats (ie lefty’s) oppose them.
Really ? Al Gore was the one who debated FOR NAFTA and Bill Clinton signed it into law passed by a Democratic Congress. Try again.
Ron Paul on the UN
And then there's my least favorite topic, the UN. World government is obviously unconstitutional. It undermines our country's sovereignty in the worst way possible. That's why I want us out of the UN, and the UN itself taking a hike.fter all, the UN is socialist and corrupt (many votes can be bought with a "blonde and a case of scotch," one UN ambassador once said). It costs many billions, and it puts our soldiers in UN uniforms under foreign commanders, and sends them off to unconstitutional, undeclared wars. When Michael New, one of the finest young men I've ever met, objected to wearing UN blue, he was kicked out of the American Army. What an outrage! Not one dime for the UN, and not one American soldier! Not in Haiti, not in Bosnia, not in Somalia, not in Rwanda. I know its radical, but how about devoting American military efforts to defending America, and only America? Such ideas, said one newspaper reporter, make me a maverick who will never go far because he won't go along to get along. Darn right! What does "go far" mean? Get a big government job? To heck with that. And I won't sell my vote for pork either.
Go ahead and continue with your BS
Libertarian comes to mind...perhaps paleoconservative. Definitely not a modern conservative.
Reminds me of a wackier Senator Robert Taft...as far as foreign policy goes. The old republicans that were increasingly pushed aside, as modern history was demanding a more attentive foreign policy. One can debate things went too far (in some instances), but isolationist are no-longer needed or desired.
Since this thread is about polling numbers, there is a new article published today with Iowa polling numbers. First time Fred appears in their polling and he’s second.

Please check it out. Alan Keyes is at 2% and Hunter is stuck at 1% [same as the last polling in May].
That's one way of saying it. The other day it dawned on me that Romney is a Big Organization kind of guy. He comes from Big Church -- the Mormon church is, from my understanding, financially linked in many companies. IIRC, Albertson's is connected to the Mormon church. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But Romney's been born and bred on Big Church. So no wonder he's also Big Government.
"Liberal vs. conservative" or "RINO vs. Real Republican" is so subjective. Big Government Nanny vs. Small Government Freeman is much more cut and dried.
So-called "social" conservatives scream that they won't vote for someone who won't use government to prevent or promote whatever it is they want. Yet in the long run, states' rights and increased charitable dollars from the private sector which would be a byproduct of smaller government, would get those social conservatives toward their goals faster. Small government is in their interests, too, if they would only see it.
I don’t know how much they are liking it there, but it put a HUGE smile on my face.
Thanks for the link!
“I never said Iraq wasnt important but it is not a litmus test for being conservative and isnt as important as YOU think it is.”
Not that you’re responding to me, but Iraq is so huge an issue. I’d wager to say if Iraq didn’t happen, and there was no issue with Iraq...we’d have the white house for atleast another 8 years...easily.
That being said, I wholly support finishing our work there, although I wasn’t a big supporter of the initial start of it. But that’s two separate issues, imo.
Mitt’s spending his own like a drunken sailor, so anyone else is SOL...
