Doctors prescribe. Pharmacists fill the prescription. No pharmacy should be FORCED to carry any drug. Period.

What kind of pharmacist do you want? A rubber stamper?
You should choose one who helps you with your prescribed

Do you want them to tell you about side effects, even if
you might stop taking the drug cause you don’t want those
side effects?
Do you want them to tell you smoking can be harmful?
That overdosing on meds is potentially dangerous?
Suppose you have heard that some herb is good for your
digestion, but you are taking a blood thinner
for your heart condition, and the pharmacist knows that
there might be a drug interaction that might harm you with
those two chemicals. Should the pharmacist just say, “hey,
man, it’s a free country” here’s you’re prescription for
the blood thinner, dude, good luck.” Or should they warn
you, and if they feel strongly enough that the interaction
could be harmful to you, not sell you the drug. What kind
of pharmacist do you want?

I seem to have missed it.
I have a nephew and a niece who are pharmacist. They take their jobs very seriously and take it to heart. Everyday they explain the drugs to the people they are dispensing because it is part of their job. They care about them. In this line of work you have too. And they are there to protect the patients from any bad drug interactions or allergies that the doctor missed. This is a medical field they are involved in. They are licensed in Ohio which requires years of schooling and making rounds next to the doctors on the floors. They have to take their jobs very seriously. They can’t be that cold-hearted I think. Especially if have rapport with their patients.
If the pharmacist does not want to sell the legal drug, then they ought to work in a store that does not sell it. It’s like a clerk refusing to sell condoms because they are Catholic, or some one refusing to sell bullets because they could be used to kill someone, or a Muslim refusing to sell a customer alcohol, it's simply ridiculous.
I understand you oppose the drug, and thats fine. A solid argument can be made for banning the sale of this drug. But, until it is illegal, the public has a right to buy it at store that sells it. If you do not want to sell it, the work somewhere that does not stock the item.
In today's world pharmacists are becoming obsolete. I get my drugs on base and guess what? They hand you a computer print-out with your script. I got home, compared it with WebMD.com and they were identical. Suffice it to say I'm not downgrading the Piggly Wiggly pharmacist but I can do my own research.
Should the government be able to FORCE a pharmacy to sell the drug?
The pharmacist most certainly has the right to refuse distributing the morning after pill and there is nothing that can force him/her to do so short of gun to the temple.
No judge, no politician, no officer of the law can force the hand of pharmacist to issue such drugs.

I get my meds on base, too. The RPh always asks me if I'm familiar with the meds before they hand me the print outs.
Pharmacists are far from becoming obsolete. Do you know how hard it is to get thru Pharmacy school? Do you have any idea how often doctors call a pharmacist for advice on any number of medications?

Where does it say these pharmacists work for the government? I thought they worked for individual chains... I’ve never worked somewhere employees were allowed to CHOOSE what part of their job they would perform.
Insubordination is usually punishable by termination. It’s true, these individuals signed up to become pharmacists to help people. And that creates a huge moral problem for them with the morning after pill. However, with the pill being legal, it doesn’t really leave these folks much option unless they find a chain to work for that feels the same way they do.

I am telling the truth about what it's like in pharmacy. I never said I was a vet. My husband is, though. In 26 years, he served pretty much everywhere.

I WAS specific, and I didn't call YOU ignorant. I said your Piggly Wiggly COMMENT was ignorant, as well as insulting. I'm just one of several people I noticed posting on this thread who have experience in the pharmaceutical field.

The larger issue are the states that mandate the selling of these items...not the businesses. Its one thing if a business mandates the selling of an item, the pharmacist could indeed find another place to work. But if the state mandates that all pharmacies within that state sell abortifacients...what is the community/family rooted pharmacist to do, leave the state?
