Harry Reid Criticizes 'Christian Far Right'...This is probably the sort of thing that's earned Harry a 27% approval, 51% disapproval rating amonf likely Nevada voters in a recent poll.....

IIRC the CoJCoLDS would excommunicate him if he promoted abortion. He does not.

He was skirting a very fine line with some of the things he said about Ezra Taft Benson. The LDS church has more then just promoting abortion to excommunicate people, but with Dirty Harry far as i know his voting record has been against abortion.

The bible is serious when it says to beware calling good to be evil and evil to be good.

For instance, Jesus said that the ONLY unforgiveable sin was blasphemy of the holy spirit. This was right after some pharisees accused him of doing miracles by the power of Satan. In other words, that Jesus was evil. I don’t think God tolerates such behavior for long.

Since he can’t correctly define a “Christian,” a little hard to accept his criticism. If, by Christian, he means what you do, he is WAAAAAAAAAY off base!

when Mr. Reid says that they have misled the membership, he is literally declaring himself to be smarter than God himself.

I doubt he thinks that.
IMHO he was alluding to non doctrinal political issues that he obviously disagrees with.

First of all it’s The Deseret News. Minor point.

Regardless of the assinine proclamations of this limp-wristed glory monger, the fact is he WILL BE the Senate Majority leader UNTIL we wrest the power from his groty little hands.

He has a power base in Las Vegas that will return him to the senate in 2010 (his next campaign) unless someone there is able to expose his corruption machine. Having grown up in Louisiana, I can tell you that ain’t easy.

The more eloquent solution would be to strip his power by removing him from majority status. Not an easy task - granted. Particularly when our GOP keeps aiming not at our toes, but at our metatarsils. But it can be done. It has been done. Remember Tom Daschle?

These democrats are so blazingly inept, if we can’t run them out of Washington on a rail, I’ll be wondering why I’m not up in a valley with John Galt.

He was skirting a very fine line with some of the things he said about Ezra Taft Benson.

If it's on the political level then it's fair game, if he's confusing politics with doctrine then it's not. IIRC a certain general authority form the Navajo nation was excommunicated for doing just that 20 years ago or so.

Any Reid statement yet on politicians who evade taxes with the help of a good friend and business associate who just happens to be a mobster?

I guess a good template to examine were the criticisms levelled against the church by Brigham H. Roberts when he first ran for Congress. After the campaign, he was given a choice of publically apologizing or excommunication. He apologized.

I don't remember what his critical comments were, but he most certainly did not endorse global warming, abortion or call the evangelicals "anti-christian."

Will he be sending a letter to every Evangelical’s boss, signed by forty idiot Senators, telling them to shut up?

The Christian Far Right is Harry codespeak for any non-openly-gay self proclaimed Christians or those who approve of them.

Thanks but no thanks, Dingy Harry. We'll allow God to define right and wrong for us, not some carpetbagging political hack from the pro-flag-burning, pro-abortion and pro-sodomy Democrat Party.

Yet he has voiced no concerns about the looney left spreading bizarre lies, communism, and downright hatred of our military, our flag, anything patriotic- the list is endless.

Not too hard to tell which group he feels in step with.

Really scary isn’t it?

Harry Reid is the kid in school who would steal somene’s crayons for making a ragdoll out of him on the playground...

Now that he’s a big, bad Senator, he kind of relished playing the tough guy. But he still sounds like a sniveling wimp.
