Republican hopefuls Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson are doing a bit better in Missouri this month, but the classic swing state looks like it will be competitive again in 2008.
Giuliani now leads Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton by three points, 45% to 42%. Clinton and Thompson are tied at 44%. Last month, Clinton had a slight edge over all leading Republican hopefuls.
Barack Obama doesnt fare quite as well against the Republican frontrunners. He trails Giuliani by five and Thompson by nine.

Usually, Missouri is slightly more Republican than the nation as a whole.
Speaking of the Electoral College, have liberals figured out that the candidate with the most votes doesn’t necessarily win?
They’ve had 7 years to figure it out...but I’m not hopeful.
Actually, they were catching on, then Bush took the pop vote, as well as the electoral vote. That screwed them up, because the guy with the most votes won...so Gore SHOULD have been president, after all!!!
Yes, we’ve been running Republican...the state is very red EXCEPT for the liberal areas of St. Louis and Kansas City. Columbia even went for Bush.
BUT...our leads are diminishing and we have a Dim Senator.
Women and their healthcare. That drove the election then and it could in ‘08.
Good to see Matt Blunt rebounding in the polls against Jay Nixon.
How much of that is due to vote fraud in St. Lou? I'd love to see the rural district hold back their totals until all of the urban votes are counted for once. It might put a dent in the last minute vote manufacturing that happens in Chicago, Seattle, St. Louis and similar Machine towns.
I will be happy to vote for Romney.....
I will be happy to vote for Rudy.....
I will actively help any of the above candidates
We live in heavily red St. Charles County... I lived in Columbia during the ‘04 election and yes, surprisingly Boone County voted for Bush.
Yes, and remember they ran out of ballots in the Joplin area, which went almost 70% for Bush.
It was very annoying to see liberal districts hold their vote counts until the last minute, just enough to put McCats-kill over the top.
...the state is very red EXCEPT for the liberal areas of St. Louis City and Kansas City.
St. Louis is two distinct districts . . .City of and County of.
Oh, and don't forget Springfield. I am not sure it was red last time.
I’m in Springfield. Southwest Missouri is RED. It was red....but Talent only got about 55% of the vote in Greene County, instead of the 60% he got before.
AND...I said the “liberal areas of St. Louis and Kansas City.”
Didn’t say they were all liberal. There are many fine Pubbies in the ‘burbs.
I would hate to see Missouri go Dim Blue. Break my heart.
It won’t continue if he keeps allowing CAFOS to go in within a mile of Roaring River. 65,000+chickens and over 40,000 hogs can ruin a major tourist site in a hurry.
Remember, in Missouri the animals in a CAFO are designated as animal units. I think the chicken operation is 65,000 chicken units in which a unit equals, I beleive, 51 chickens.
The head of DNR said his purpose wasn’t to requlate CFOS but to streamline the issusing of permits for the stinking messes.
Blunt has a lot of work to do in that area.
We need an electoral method that overcomes this Liberal advantage they have in major cities.
One method would be to divide the states into one square mile blocks, with the candidate receiving the majority in each block receiving the vote. Majority of votes wins.
States that are mostly Red win.
I'm convinced that winning the Talent-McCaskill race was a top priority of the DNC. The Paw family of San Francisco contributed over $38K to McCaskill and they probably couldn't find Missouri on a map. The Dems got the minimum wage issue on the ballot which brought more Dems to the polls. The stem cell issue was politicized and the Dems brought in Michael J. Fox to demagogue that issue. None of those things happened without a lot of advanced planning.
Someone on FR suggested that each county in the United States be given one electoral vote.
Of course Springfield is red. It's the heart and soul of Republican southwest Missouri (which includes Branson and Joplin). The other blue area is in mid-Missouri, Boone County and the city of Columbia (home of the University of Missouri).
Bump
Howdy!
