You did just what you should have. Sorry if it looked like I was taking you to task over it.

Thanks. That’s why I thought it was a poor headline.

Sounds like Sadr City is tired of terrorists too. Once Baghdad and Diyala are settled down, Iraq is settled down. There's not much going on anywhere else.
And very litte really happening in Baghdad and Diyala either. Sadr City is about all that remains of trouble spots in Baghdad.
And to think, just this past spring and summer, it was so chaotic and noisy with explosions going off sometimes several times a day, the bomb alert sirens so frequent that our reactions were second nature...just three months ago.
Good night, all...from a peaceful, sovereign nation.

Prefer the Military's headline, it is more intellectually honest. OTOH...
Iraqi officials reported only 13 deaths, including women and children. The U.S. military said it was not aware of any civilian casualties, and the discrepancy in the death tolls and accounts of what happened could not be reconciled. American commanders reported no U.S. casualties.
So, when will we be able to trust "Iraqi officials"...?

Very misleading headline! At first blush I equated "Special Groups" with Special Ops - our guys.
Since when are the terrorists "Special" - except maybe to Harry Reid, Dick Durbin and the NYT?

Marine snipers have had Mookie dead to rights on at least two occasions. Action denied by Navy JAG. This is solid intel and verifiable.

"American commanders credit the troop buildup for a sharp drop in the number of attacks and deaths of U.S. soldiers and Iraqi civilians, particularly in the past two months." But it needs to be remembered that the "build-up" is merely a part of the re-directed strategy of aggressive localized engagement. I'm a supporter of "the Surge" but regret that this is a misleading term for what's happening in Iraq.
