Fred has to now swim uphill against the MSM regarding illegal immigration. I still feel very strongly that Fred will pull far ahead as soon as unification of the Conservatives happens. They will soon see Romney for what he is and Huckabee as well. Then its Fred against Rudy!

I loved him in Necessary Roughness. Or was it Die Hard 2? Ah, doesn’t matter, he always played the same character...

And he’s got the right accent for South Carolina voters, too. That’s sure to win some votes. It doesn’t matter what he believes or how good a candidate he is or whether he can beat Hillary. (He can’t.)

Tim Russert suggested to him in the interview on Sunday that it appears he’s lost a lot of weight. Fred’s response—it’s because he’s exercising and watching his cholesterol. Please! Don’t make me laugh. He also admitted that he’s just had some “tests.” Why? Here’s the most likely reason: The doctors are checking his blood count which is required when you have non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It’s done frequently to determine if it’s necessary to start chemo again, in other words, to determine if the cancer has come out of remission. The doctors don’t know what they’re going to find because the disease is unpredictable. That’s why blood tests on a regular basis are necessary.

The fact that his disease is currently in remission doesn’t mean that it will remain so. It is not unlikely that it will be necessary for Thompson to restart intravenous chemotherapy, perhaps just as he’s entering the toughest part of the campaign should he unfortunately be the nominee of the Republican party. That’s a recipe for disaster.

And, by the way, Thompson also suggested that he expects to live quite a while and die of something else. Precisely. Doctors advised my father that non-Hodgkins patients with their weakened immune systems often die of infections and pneumonia before the disease actually kills them. To claim, as Thompson seems to be, that it is unlikely the disease will kill him is not being quite truthful.

The fact that he dodged and weaved and wouldn’t answer Russert’s question about whether or not he’ll release his medical records is also telling. If you have a serious, debilitating, terminal cancer that requires chemotherapy to try to keep you alive, and you are running for president, you should be required to release your medical records. I don’t care what your name is or what television show you’ve been on, or how folksy you are.

Fred should pass some campaign finance laws to stop this sort of thing. Golly-- can Presidents do that? I thought that was Congress's department.

Well, that's why Fred *did* something about it when he was in Congress.

I am so glad for Thompson-McCain-Feingold CFR. I mean if it wasn't for CFR, we could have had George Soros dump tens of millions of dollars into front groups to fund anti-bush campaigns in 2004 and 2006 ... Thank God that never happened! (big gulp SARCASM tag)

Romney both supported campaign finance "reform" AND belonged to a Soros-funded group, the Main Street Republicans. I'm not trying to get in a giant flame war here, but given your post it seems like those facts are pertinent.

red is trying to run a campaign where you don’t have to campaign two years before an election or outspend the other candidates by tens of millions to get your message out he is trying to be who he is instead of the phony politicians kissing butt on every voter it takes a lot of time and money to get to all those butts and if that’s what it takes to get your vote then Thompson isn’t your man

Can someone buy you FredHeads a clue. Have you read your American history? Presidential candidates have had to kiss babies and other body parts since the days of Teddy Roosevelt. And every 4 years it gets more and more so. And since the days of real primaries since the 1960s that's what the nominations are. Long, hard, grueling marathons to meet at many voters as possible and gather up support. Now the primaries are earlier than ever before (blame Hillary and her grand plan to win before the opposition could gather).

Ex-lobbyist and ex-Senator Thompson grasps that (at least I hope he does). He made his own decision to do it his way. IMHO it probably was fatal to his chances to be as late and slow as he has been. At least intrade reflects that, showing his odds of victory shrinking daily and now at a level no better than John McCain, who's campaign has been declared dead.

"it takes a lot of time and money to get to all those butts and if that’s what it takes to get your vote then Thompson isn’t your man" - Great, so Thompson is writing off the voters that want to see the candidate. How is that helpful to anyone except his opponents?

if you want to believe in the hope that Thompson can swim against the tide of populist campaigning yet get 'popular' that way, be my guest. We will know by Feb 6th or so if it was brilliant or wishful thinking.

Sounds like a whole lot of sour grapes. Mitt Romney is criss-crossing South Carolina meeting the people and answering their questions. He is working hard to earn their trust and their votes. He doesn't expect it to be handed to him on a silver platter.

On Thursday Governor Romney and his wife Ann traveled to South Carolina to hold events across the state. Governor and Mrs. Romney hosted an "Ask Mitt Anything" town hall meeting at the Applewood Pancake House in Pawley's Island. Governor Romney then traveled to Florence to attend a luncheon at the home of Drs. Jed and Mary Tepper. He later traveled to Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System to tour the hospital and meet with members of the media. Governor Romney finished the day in Fort Mill where he hosted an "Ask Mitt Anything" town hall and BBQ.

On Tuesday Governor Romney returned to South Carolina holding campaign events across the state. Governor Romney addressed the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce in the morning and the Greenville Rotary Club luncheon later that day. He then traveled to Columbia and Summerville where he hosted “Ask Mitt Anything” townhall meetings. On Wednesday morning, Governor Romney met with area residents at the Donut Man in Myrtle Beach.

Your facts are not facts.
Romney never shaped nor voted for the CFR legislation Thompson helped craft.

Romney is for repealing McCain-Feingold. That is the right thing to do to that legislation.

http://www.mymanmitt.com/mitt-romney/2007/03/repeal-of-mccain-feingold.asp

According to a press release dated March 2 from Romney’s Campaign, Romney has three gripes with CFR which he will make the center piece in his fight to repeal it.

Governor Romney Will Fight To Restore The Free Speech Rights Of The American People. Political speech is at the heart of the First Amendment. The American people must be allowed to advocate for their candidates and their positions without burdensome limitations. For example, McCain-Feingold prohibits some nonprofits from broadcasting messages that mention the name of a federal candidate within 30 days of a primary or in the months leading up to the general election. This Free Speech Blackout Period – also called the “electioneering communications ban” – is at odds with a free and open issues debate and should be repealed.

· Governor Romney Believes Grassroots Organizations And Activism Should Be Encouraged, Not Restricted. Grassroots activities are protected by the First Amendment and play a crucial role in elections. Rather than encourage debate on issues of public importance, McCain-Feingold has silenced some of these groups, empowered special interest groups, and protected incumbents in federal office. McCain-Feingold also has opened the door to additional regulation of grassroots organizations, which is exactly the wrong direction.

· Governor Romney Believes That There Must Be More Transparency And Disclosure In Campaign Finance. McCain-Feingold has not accomplished its stated goals of reducing the role of money or special interests in politics. Instead, it has driven money into secret corners and given more power to hidden special interests. Governor Romney believes we must have more transparency and disclosure in the process, rather than more restrictions and censorship of political speech.

I have heard Dennis Prager state that CFR is the reason he could never support McCain. I am not here to say that is the right attitude, clearly McCain is defined by more than just a bad bill that curtails basic first ammendment rights. Yet inasmuch as we cite terrorism as a threat to democracy, so should we recgnize the threat to democracy limitations on free speech in the political arena hold.

Folks tend to believe lies and distortions because the truth is so hard to recognize these days, it’s just way our society has become.

Therefore, your candidate will do well.

In the end, I think FRed will overcome the odds of this phenomena, and the overwhelming odds of myth’s money and support of the msm.

A bill passes into law even if the President doesn’t sign it. For instance, if Congress is not adjourned, and the President fails to either sign or veto a bill sent to him by the end of the 10-day period, it becomes law without his signature.

An Executive order is not passing a law. It is, in fact, a LAWFUL ORDER!

CONGRESS PASSES LAWS!!!
