Fred Thompson Calls Mike Huckabee A "Pro-Life Liberal"
WKRN ^

Posted on 11/07/2007 12:58:23 PM PST by jaybeegee

Fred Thompson stops by Steve Gill’s radio show and reacts to the Pat Robertson endorsement of Rudy Giuliani, talks immigration reform and shares his impression of Governor Mike Huckabee as a “pro-life liberal.”

“When you’re very, very low and you come in for a while just very low then that’s considered to be a surge in politics. He’s doing better.

He’s a good man but he’s a pro-life liberal. He’s right on the pro-life part, but he’s a liberal. You look at his taxes in the state you look at what he said about immigration. You know he worked against any attempt to control immigration coming in through his home state…”

~ Fred Thompson on Mike Huckabee on the Steve Gill Show

Fred also lets Rudy (yes, he calls him Rudy) have it on gun licensing. Audio here.

I understand the typical FR suspicion of newbys posting articles, I have been here for MONTHS and still haven’t posted one.

Oh, ha ha! Actually, I have gotten quite a lot of enlightenment from Quix’s posts over the years. He’s one of my favorite FReepers, even though we disagree on some things.

It’s probably a chumming of the water, bait, a probe by someone who’s been holding short for Thompson and is worried that the bottom is going to drop out and he loses it all.

Check out the forum, one of the comments is asking about the same thing.

It's your money that the government uses to support immoral stuff.

Yes exactly. Most fiscal liberals are also social liberals anyway. I'm just saying if I am forced to choose then social conservatism is the one I'll choose. I don't way to choose between them because I really think you can't have one without the other.

Not to mention the sight of millions of mothers, grandmothers, sisters, etc... being led off to jail while their crying children are shown on national news. THAT’ll win the hearts and minds of the American people.

Fred has made a political calculation that he doesn't want to offend all the people who would be upset by the enforcement of laws prohibiting abortion and lose those people's votes. If he wants those pro-choice votes so bad, then he doesn't want my vote.

A high ask price would not protect from a falling price, especially in this case since the contract has never traded higher than 40. It has never traded higher than 40, right?

It is, however, a way to lock in a profit without paying attention. In other words, it's meaningless. Someone bought a contract and put down an automatic sell price.

But if someone DID buy it at 40 and you were looking to short Thompson & get back in at some point, that would be the time. Someone HAS bought it at 5, which is about 1/2 as likely as Huckabee at this point. But the ask price for Huckabee isn’t anywhere near Thompson’s dropout price. Someone’s jittery.

I absolutely disagree with you that wanting to overturn Roe V Wade instead of pushing for an ain't-gonna-happen-nohow-noway-but-it-panders-well-to-the-anti-abortion-moralists Federal law to criminalize abortion, equals "Pro-Choice."

That said, WELCOME BACK, TAILGUNNER JOE! I'm glad you're here! :^)

Thompson is pro-life, and I'd rather have it return to the states than to keep fighting for a hail-mary constitutional amendment banning it.

No wonder the GOP's base is whittled down to religious conservatives. Start getting the government out of people's lives, and that includes social issues as well as fiscal.

So don't vote for him. I'm sure you will won't be missed.

Have you considered extolling the virtues of the candidate you support rather than trolling around and slamming those you don't?

Nothing personal here, but it is getting a bit old, especially here on FreeRepublic watching folks, who in the main, are of like minds attacking each other because of individual candidate choices.

But, alas, that is what our political process has boiled down to.

Supporting a human life amendment is pandering to “anti-abortion-moralists,” but opposing the amendment isn’t pandering to pro-choice immoralists? I see.

But if someone DID buy it at 40 . . .

It never traded that high. As far as I can tell from the website, it has traded once, at 5. The market here is far too thin to provide any predictive value.

You're blowing it wildly out of proportion.

It just opened yesterday.

Look at the forums for Ron Paul and Thompson and you’ll see the thinking behind it.

It's meaningless, except as a tool to try to make Fred look bad. The bid-ask spread is what, 39? The volume is patchy, and it's ten cents per point. Someone is betting a whopping four bits they can make four bucks.

Good point. You might want to let the Fred Team go in and put some money into the system to correct this thing that makes him look bad. He’s lost about 30 points over the last few weeks.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1919127/posts

Of course, if word gets out that TeamFred is doing that, there are some savvy market players that will maneuver themselves to take all that money. But it’s worth a try.
