Malmo.
How much time would you spend in Malmo?
Unarmed and unguarded is what I am talking about.

I’ve been to Sweden and seen your empty Lutheran churches.
I’ve had true Lutheran ministers visit our American Lutheran churches asking for help in spreading the real Lutheran word and not that of the state.
Sorry, I’m not buying the Swedish “Lutheran” line of BS.
Any mention of the HUGH amount of money Norway rakes in due to North Sea oil? How wonderful would they be if they didn't have that?
“Socialism works”
- No it doesn’t.
However, choosing the Scandinavian fiscal path of high VAT (simply put: sales taxes - however, it isn’t exactly the same thing) INSTEAD of high corporate taxes might appear an intelligent once you’ve decided it is Capitalist corporations like Ericsson, Nokia, IKEA, Bofors, Electrolux and SAAB that produce the wealth of nations.
Sir Winston Churchill
Sir Winston was right!
You confuse base values with politics, my friend..
In Europe, the people always looked to thier kings for solutions to whatever crisis befell them, from famine, to invasion...
America, on the other hand, was founded by folk looking for a new life, free of the tyranny’s against freedom of whatever-it-was that brought them here...
We don’t have long generational memories of wars with our neighbors, and we are a hodgepodge of people’s, instead of swedes, or danes, or deutch, etc...
(At least until recently, when hyphonated-Americanism rose along with the Democrat politics of victimization)
It never fails. If the news does a story about something we don’t know much about, someone who does always points out that the story is mostly false.
Thanks for supplying the facts.

You are quite correct; you have a great country, and are considered true friends of the US.....and rightfully so.
I will add that you are quite correct that the current US tax codes are harsh on our corporations and need to be revamped; if not totally tossed. Same is true of our income tax on individuals; it’s a sick joke now days. We know it, and many seek to remedy this.
It’s just that we don’t believe that government should be in the business of owning companies, taxing individuals at confiscatory rates to pay for all manner of “social” programs, etc. etc. It puts FAR too much power in the hands of a central government. Pure capitalists.....and in this country, Constitutionalists......believe in the de-centralization of power. Sweden’s current governmental structure is quite Socialist in a literal sense. This doesn’t imply that we or any other American believe that Swedes bow to the statue of Marx; far from it. It is just that our country was built upon and THRIVED upon a spirit of rugged individualism.
Something, by the way, that so many of us want back....and fight the Democrats tooth and nail to make it happen.
God bless you, and may God bless Sweden and her people.
LOL!
Yes, in Denmark, but NOT in Sweden. Seems like you never have heard of Hjalmar Branting
Per Albin Hansson
Tage Erlander
Osten Unden
Olof Palme
Ingvar Carlson
Goran Persson!!
Plus a few other sosser as well governing for more than a century!!!???
the article is bogus. It says “Sweden adopts Catholicism as its official religion.”(Unless it’s a poor translation for some reason). It is 87% Lutheran.
“Sir Winston was right!”
- At least, Sir Winston Churchill was never wrong!
If Churchill would’ve been truly immortal, I, as a Swede, believe Kamprad (Mr. IKEA) would’ve entrusted him his Swedish company for eternity the day he’s no longer pining for the fjords..
Last week my wife and I went to the newest IKEA store in the U.S. that opened 3 weeks ago. WOW, what a store that will be hurting Rooms-to-Go big time!!!
That's a stupid and irrelevant question. How about if I ask you how wonderful would your life be if you were a crack junkie and your wife was a prostitute.........?
Fact is, they got it and you ain't a junkie........
“The negative inheritance I received from my predecessor Gunnar Sträng (Minister of Finance 1955 - 1976) was a strongly progressive tax system with high marginal taxes. This was supposed to bring about a just and equal society. But I eventually came to the opinion that it simply didn t work out that way he concluded. Progressive taxes created instead a society of wranglers, cheaters, peculiar manipulations, false ambitions and new injustices. It took me at least a decade to get a part of the party to see this.”
K-O Feldt, former Swedish Minister of Finance (1982-1990)
These words mark the ultimate defeat of Socialism on Swedish and therefore Scandinavian soil.
And as for Norway having more millionaires (per capita) than any other country...that wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that for the last twenty years Norway has been producing 3000 barrels of oil per year for every man, woman and child in the country, would it?
If the breathtaking level of taxation and regulations that are in effect in Sweden works for Swedes that's great. But any attempt by you or anyone else might make to convince me that we should emulate Sweden/Europe will fall on deaf ears with me and the overwhelming majority of Americans who are here legally and who work for a living.
I've traveled to Europe a number of times. In fact,I am an Irish citizen (as well as a US citizen) and as one I could live and work in any EU country I wished. In spite of that fact I'll gladly stick with the US and I'm sure you'll gladly stick with Sweden.
Me thinks WesternCuture is hiding.
No responses to many, many comments.
Yeah, but they have oil and few people. "Per Capita" arguments are always biases to the small countries so is quite useless for comparison. Always. At some point, you reach diminishing returns because not everything scales linearly.
