...and pardon these two!! (Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean)

... & pardon these 2 Saturday, November 24, 2007

The degrading, draconian and disgraceful incarceration of former Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean indicates President George W. Bush, the self-anointed compassionate conservative, is capable of stone-cold stupidity. By doing their duty along the near-lawless border with Mexico, Messrs. Ramos and Compean have become tragic symbols of this nation's gross incompetence regarding enforcement of immigration law.

So bladder bag and all, he could still run drugs across the border starting 4 months later in June? How bad could it have been?

Ouch. That'll leave a mark.

Honest to G*d, you think if Sutton had to do it over again he would actually sign an immunity agreement with Aldrete-Davila...? Oh HELL NO. There is absolutely nothing that a prosecutor hates more than being stabbed in the back by criminal that he has given immunity to.

OAD has proven that he simply cannot be trusted. Period.

They wanted R&C convicted bad.

They encouraged false testimony and let Aldrete violate his immunity agreement at various times.

All in the name of "justice." /s

Sutton, and scum like him, need to be purged from the system.

The problem, as I see it, is that he walked away the first time.

OAD has now proven that Sutton was wrong to place any trust in him in the first place. So, logically, it was a mistake for Sutton's surrogates to tell the jury that they, as jurors, could trust OAD.

If a prosecutor can't trust someone, then they have no right to tell a jury that they can trust that individual.

I don’t watch Court TV.
Have they ever covered an appeal?

I don’t think they have ever televised an appeal but this is a pretty well known case so I’m hoping. I’d call in sick to watch it, if they did though :^)

They did worse than that! Their whole presentation of OAD was that he was a truck driver looking for money to update his permits, needing money to pay for his mother’s medical bills (for hypertension), etc. Prosecutors knew that information was FALSE at the time of trial, but presented it anyway. Then they fought to have everything sealed about all of his other dirty dealings. In short, they lied. He wouldn’t name the people involved, wouldn’t provide the name of the clinic he supposedly went to after the shooting, etc. They should have yanked his immunity and sent him to jail in 2005.

I learned one thing in this whole mess—I don’t trust prosecutors, the DHS, or the DOJ.

for this, I'd TIVO it while I was watching.

I hope ALL the information gets to jury this time! Is Sutton the prosecutor still?

OAD wouldn't even tell them the actual name of the clinic he went to after the shooting...? WTH...?? That doesn't make sense.

And Sutton still doesn't want to talk about his discussions with the Mexican government regarding OAD and the BP agents. Bastard.

o please, did you read any of the transcripts of the case? Other border agents testified against them saying they never felt any life threatening force from the illegal. And they cleaned the area of the shell casings and did not report the shooting as they were supposed to. I don’t think they should have been prosecuted...but something had to be done due to their screw up. I believe their cover up really got the government angry and they overreacted by sending it to trial. I think they should have been disiplined and fired but not sent to jail. Their job is difficult, but they are trained to have disipline to the max when using their weapons. And the prosecutors in that district routinely look at various shootings and even killings by the border agents...almost always they are seen as justifiable. These guys had to have lost it in stressful situation for the prosecutors to go after them.

That is correct, appeals not a TV venture.

It is interesting how the various courts have their function.

Working with the County Attys, I delt with Superior, Federal, & Appeals.

Debra Kanof and Jose Luis Gonzalez were the prosecutors last time, both from El Paso.
It looks like they’ve assigned this to a couple guys from San Antonio. All of them work as AUSAs under Sutton.

Mark Randolph Stelmach,
Assistant US Attorney

Joseph H Gay, Jr,
Assistant US Attorney

US Attorney’s Office
Western District of Texas
601 NW Loop 410 Suite 600
San Antonio, TX 78216-5597

I just read that Alderete-Davila appears for his hearing on Nov 29th.
Keep pinging me to any threads you might see.

Ace DHS investigator Chris Sanchez testimony:

C. Sanchez - Cross by Ms. Stillinger 301-302

9 Q. Okay. Did you find out — by the way, I know we talked
10 about his appointment to get his bullet removed. Did you find
11 out where he was getting medical treatment?
12 A. No, ma’am.
13 Q. Okay. Did you — did you later try to find out about that?
14 A. I tried to find it out, but I couldn’t find out.
15 Q. Okay. I know Agent Rene Sanchez just testified, and he
16 said that he knew what clinic he had been to, and that he had
17 provided that to you. Do you remember him providing that to
18 you?
19 A. That was never —

20 MS. KANOF: I would object, Your Honor. That’s not
21 what Agent — that’s assuming facts not in evidence. I
22 remember the testimony being that Agent Sanchez didn’t know the
23 name of the clinic.

24 THE COURT: Well, I’ll sustain the objection.
25

1 BY MS. STILLINGER:
2 Q. Agent Rene Sanchez never told you anything he knew about
3 the clinic where the treatment was performed?
4 A. No, ma’am.
5 Q. Okay. And you were not able to find out that later,
6 because Mr. Aldrete-Davila wouldn’t tell you?
7 A. Correct.
